Built like Tim Dobbins... we could use a MLB like that. I'll take a pickup like this over any one of the players Iowa has thus far.

Man I miss Tim Dobbins. I think Smith does a fine job, but Dobbins could do it all. Guy was all over the field. I still remember him harassing Drew Tate all over the field. Good times.

Would be a great catch, however how the hell is bench press only 255 at a weight of 246?

you can still be very strong and not be able to lift very much, plus his speed probably didn't hurt him getting so many tackles

I know what your saying, but I wonder how many people on this board can bench press 255. I guess all things are relative.

But, how many people on this board have the ability to play BCS football?

I'm with you (if I correctly understand your point), a 255 bench isn't a big deal heading into one's senior year. Anyone here doubt what Coach Shep will do for him if/when he becomes a Cyclone?

Recruit natural speed and athleticism, body strength will come in time.

I bet that there are more people on here that weigh 246 lbs, than can bench 255.

    Re: Kerry Hyder

At his weight he should bench at least 3 big plates (45 lbs each) per side on an olympic bar or 315 lbs.

    Re: Kerry Hyder

I can bench over 255 lbs., but would not be good on the football field.
Believe me, there are tons of players with "weak" benches who can play great football - just as there are weight-room warriors who aren't worth a darn on the field. I'll bet Coach Shappard can recite a few of those over his career...

    Re: Kerry Hyder

That bench press was taken in April of this year. I'm sure its higher than that right now.
Can those of you that can bench over 255 run a 4.6??

I have played with and coached D1 athletes that are his size or bigger and had great careers (including a few that went pro) and only 1 ever has been able to bench that much at any point in HS.
