    Weghner to Iowa

Just heard on the Radio that Weghner (sp) is comitting to Iowa. It was the Iowa High School Sports Connection show. Would say that's pretty credible.

I'm kind of a big deal!

If true that is a huge get for the Hawks. But I would rather see him go there then Nebraska or Kansas since we won't be competing with the Hawks for a North title.

Awesome if it's true. This kid could be the next Tim Dwight - check out his videos.

I'm still waiting for the poster who said Iowa had 0% and ISU had 5% chance at landing him to come forward. I can't remember who it was but he sure gave me a lot of crap for thinking Iowa had a chance. I hope it was Monty...

They said his is choosing Iowa over kNU because Bo told him he could come play d-back and Iowa said he could play running back.

Landing Davis, Cotton and Wegher is huge. Couple these commitments with a good season and I think Barrent might change his mind..

Change his mind? Does he really want to go to a school that boos its players off the field on Senior day? I will be curious to see how many of these guys are still planning on going to Iowa after the circus that is going to be Iowa football this fall.

I bet they'd much rather go to a school that fans don't even show up on Senior Day, with a conference championship on the line.

Sorry, but both Iowa and ISU have had season-ending games that neither fanbase is proud of.

With a bad season I think that Barrent stays a Spartan and is happy and Davis, Cotton and Wegher bolt while the bolting is good and come to the greener fields in Ames.

I'm waiting for the official announcement......not that I think him committing to Iowa is unrealistic.

Wrong. I was at both the season-ender against Missouri and down at Kansas. I was very proud of our teams and gave them a cheer and clapped for them as they left the field, appreciating the effort they gave. Most ISU fans were doing the same. Major college athletics takes a lot of hard work and dedication, and I was there to not only watch those games, but to recognize the sacrifices those players made to my school. Not everything in life is about winning and losing.

While victories are nice, and much more fun for the spectators, sometimes the way you play the game is most important. That is why the plaque at our field says honor before victory, and the field itself is named for a guy who died from injuries suffered while representing Iowa State.

Maybe you could come back with the picture of Grant Steen flipping off the ISU huddle. Stay classy Hawks. Sure have come a long way since the likes of Nile Kinnick.

If this Wegher kid wants to go to Iowa, I could not care less.

Which co-incidentally was a loss for the Cyclones. He sustained fatal injuries, and the Cyclones still lost the game. It almost moves me to tears, but he died for the right reasons. His team, for the pride of his race and the love of the game. Not for a bowl game. Not for a national championship. And not for demeaning insults in perpetuity by ISU fans against the Gophers.
