Zable and Hawk fans knock Harbaugh

If you listened to the post game Iowa shows, Jim Zable and his co host were busy knocking Harbaugh as a legitimate head coach. The should be music to our ears as Cyclones...JH would be their worst nightmare.

No wonder they didn't want McCarney to go.

Cyclone fans worrying more about how poorly Iowa is doing than about their own team.

Hawkeyes more concerned with discussing ISU's coaching situation and dissing the candidates than analyzing their own team's downfall in '06.

    Classic.

Zable has never made any sense. Hawks try to bash on the Clones when they are down. Just remember they can still have a losing record with a loss in thier bowl game.

Anytime we do something that the Hawk fans don't like, we should consider it the right thing to do.

True. It's kind of like when I say Alford is the perfect coach for Iowa.

Re: Zable and Hawk fans knock Harbaugh

If by some chance, we hire the right guy, and really get it going, who has the most to lose??? Iowa and Nebraska that's who.

That is why you see the message boards for those two schools cannonize Mac, he wasn't a threat to the status quo. Every year we beat Iowa, it was our "superbowl," the only Nebraska teams that we could beat were the worst ones in modern history. It was OK for them, they could justify it.

If we get to the point that we can compete on the national level that many of us crave, then no coach will stay here. I read it on these boards as well. If you have that from your own fanbase, then how can we ever expect to get to the next level.

The Iowa State football head coaching job is a good one, it's a program that can go to the next level, compete with the Texas's of the world, I truly believe that.

It will not be easy, but it wasn't easy in Blacksburg, VA or all of the other examples of turnarounds that have been used as examples in the past.

And please understand that Mac had a lot to do with it. He came in and took advantage of many opportunities he was afforded, and make it possible for fans to believe that we can win on a national level.

He was not the coach to lead the program to that next level, and the program is not in the best of shape at the present time, but it is not as far fetched now that Iowa State can be the program that it was in the late 70's, and even beyond. And a lot of that credit has to go to Dan McCarney.
