    Sherman vs Harbaugh

There seems to be growing rumblings that Sherman may be a real candidate and may even be THE candidate. What does everyone think of this?

I think he'd be great as a former NFL guy, but Harbaugh seems like the perfect candidate to me. Everything I read about this guy makes him seem like such a stud, and he would certainly be able to get about any QB prospect he wanted.

I'm with you. Harbaugh seems to be everything that ISU needs right now.

Just a question, does Sherman have college experience? What is his resume? The only thing I am familiar with is his head coaching tenure with the Packers.

Getting a former NFL head coach would still be a pretty good hire in my opinion. Though i love Harbaugh, i have a little man crush on him

    Re: Sherman vs Harbaugh

We should add a poll to this thread to see who everyone would prefer of these two. I would do it myself, but I am not sure I have the power to do so.

    Re: Sherman vs Harbaugh

I don't know about Sherman.........whenever I saw a glimpse of him on the Green Bay sideline I thought, do the packers really follow and listen to this guy?? He just doesn't look like a LEADER to me.....does anyone else have the same thoughts. I don't see him going into living rooms and bringing in the studs that we need??

    Re: Sherman vs Harbaugh

I remember hearing lots of stories out of Green Bay that Sherman got no respect from the Packer locker room, that players were always making fun of him or talking about him behind his back. I also question his ability to evaluate talent. I don't know for sure how much of the blame should fall on his scouts, but Sherman's draft classes are the primary reason why the Packers have basically had to hit the 'restart' button and bring in a ton of rookies [3 (Colledge, Spitz, Moll) starting on the OL, 1 (Jennings) starting at WR, 1 (Hawk) starting at LB, in addition to two 2nd-year starters (Poppinga at OLB and Collins at S)]

looks like sherman hasnt stayed anywhere too long wonder why
how many teams has he taken to the next level.

Harbaugh knows what its like to be at the top of College Football and Play in the Rosebowl and couple other bowl games in the years he started for michigan under Bo Schembechler the most winingest Michigan HC who had a huge win to loss ration 10-1 win to loss or close to it.

    how about Hardball Harbaugh

what has Sherman done that is so great or smells like he will take us to the next level.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Sherman
Sherman sounds like a downgrade to the man that just got fired.

    look at Hardballs background
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Harbaugh

Harbaugh played seven seasons for the Bears and passed for a career-high 3,121 yards for Chicago in 1991. He played for the Indianapolis Colts from 1994-98 and in 1995, achieved career highs in completion percentage (63.7) and touchdown passes (17). While with the Colts he led the team to the AFC Championship game and came within one dropped "Hail Mary" of taking the Colts to the Super Bowl for the first time since 1970; was voted to the Pro Bowl; was named the 1995 Comeback Player of the Year and the AFC Player of the Year; and was runner-up in the NFL MVP voting. Harbaugh played for Baltimore in 1998, and following his two-year stint with the Chargers closed out his NFL career with Carolina in 2001. Harbaugh's was nicknamed "Captain Comeback" (the second player to be nicknamed after Roger Staubach) for his ability to win games in the fourth quarter after overcoming significant point deficits.
how would you like to be a wide receiver dropping passes in front of Harbaugh?

    Captain ComeBack?

ability to win games in the Fourth quarter after overcoming significant point deficits.

And what does being a good/great player have to do with coaching ability? Not a whole lot. There's not much of a correlation there.
