    First game disappointment

This isn't what you are all thinking. I am not projecting anything, but had some news today and wondering if anyone else has had something like this happen.
I was planning on leaving work around noon with my wife to be in the lots by 2pm for tailgating. My wife got an invite to meet with the heads of her department at 3pm and says she can't get out of it! They are both ISU grads, don't they know? The earliest we can make it now is 5pm, which I doubt. I know it is nothing major but I am pretty frustrated.

Anyone out there had similar hitches in game plans throughout the years?

For those with kids, or if they have after school mandatory activities, this make it difficult to even leave before 4-5.

Living in a rural state, a lot of people make this a "day trip". 2-4 hour one way trips are norm. Thursday night games have to hurt walk up ticket sales, and regular attendance by season ticket holders.

    Re: First game disappointment

I can't leave until 4PM and then I have to work Friday. However... I don't really care much as I'll either just leave ames early in the morning Friday or just get home really late. Haven't decided yet.

Does Highway 30 get really crowded after games East past I35?

We can't leave Cedar Falls until 4:30 pm but I don't really care... Being there for KO is the most important thing. I'd love to be in the parking lot around Noon, but it just won't work for this game :-)

    Re: First game disappointment

I refused to return the RSVP for my sisters wedding. I had all intentions of going and I did. The funny thing was my Dad called the week before the wedding because my sister was concerned I wasn't going to her wedding.

    Re: First game disappointment

Should be up there around noon, relaxing all day Friday (or doing yard work). Watching football all day Saturday in the man cave then have my 30th birthday party Sunday. Should be a great weekend!

I work overnight, so that's not a big problem. Still, last year my wife and I thought we were clever (our first season as season ticket holders), and figured that leaving at 5:00 would get us there niiiiice and early.

We live a bloce off of south Duff, and it took us half an hour just to get onto Duff. Our normal 6 minute drive took us, seriously, 2 hours. We were listening to the kickoff roar and the sounds after while we walked to the stadium. That wasn't cool.

So, this year, we're leaving the house probably by 2:30.
