Don't park your Ford F-150 in your driveway

A Homeowners Association in Texas won't allow the homeowners to park most most Ford, Dodge or Chevy pickups in their driveways.

A Lincoln Mark LT, could be in the driveway. But a Ford F-150 can't.

If I were the guy with the truck in this situation...things would get ugly.

Plain stupid...especially because it is a brand new truck.

I think it's the guy's own fault for living in such an elitist community. He had to have read the HOA rules when he moved in to/built his house.

I would never consider buying into one of these "elitist" Homeowner Associations. There are so many "do not" rules that it converts the ownership experience into something closer to a tenant experience.

Re: Don't park your Ford F-150 in your driveway

I assume that the truck owner has plenty of money (he lives in a gated community, I doubt it is a gated mobile home park) to have purchased the Lincoln. It is the exact same truck with a few more gadgets and a Lincoln badge (and $20000 more). Quit being a sissy and go trade off the F150 or park the thing in your 5 car garage.

Seriously thought, I would be mad at my uppity neighbors for something as petty as this.

I think this might be my brother'e neghborhood, he might be in trouble, just traded his Escallade for a F-150. You can get an upgraded F-150 with the same bells and whistles as the Lincoln and it's much nicer than the Escallade.

why could you be mad that them? He signed, agreed and read the HOR regs before he bought/built. While I dislike HOR, you have to honor the contract ....

Those covenants rarely hold up if it went to court. It's more about whether you want to be "that guy" in the neighborhood by not abiding to them.

they do hold up.. it is usually a matter if you want to pay for a lawyer. Unless of course, you are one..... (not you personally)

you really think he honestly read that part and if he moved in there 5 or 10 ten years ago he would remember it? maybe he would, maybe he wouldnt. i guess never seeing a pickup in someones driveway everyday would jog your memory. i just dont understand how people can get so upset over something so insignificant that it warrants a story in the newspaper.

the thing is make room in the garage if you want a pickup or get the lincoln. problem solved!

Trade in the new F-150 for a 1987 rusted out Toyota pickup and a 1988 Ford Festiva for your driveway, then a 1978 AMC Pacer on blocks for your front yard.

That's my reaction to anything involving Homeowner's Associations. I will never live in a subdivision with one. I can't believe people actually pay extra money to have a group of d-bags tell them what they can and cannot do on their own property.

Generally people in HOA's can't even park a boat or a trailer in their driveway. The entire concept is crazy to me, I guess I've always believed that what I do on my property is my business, and what my neighbor does on his is his business. So many people out there are so obsessed with controlling what others do, it makes no sense to me.
