What exactly do you want to know?

Well, since I've only driven my dads miata I can only say they are built very well and have amazing driving characteristics, reminds me of cars built for the a****ahn.

    Re: Mazda(s)

I've got an 04 Mazda3 hatchback so I can pretty much answer most of your questions.

Overall impression: It's a nice little car. I wouldn't have an issue buying another one or recommending one to a friend if they were looking at it. .

    Likes:
-Very nice interior for the money
-Pretty sporty, has pretty good power for a 2.3L 4 cylinder.
-With the seats folded down there is a ton of interior space. I've fit 8' long 2x4s in it before with all the doors and windows closed.
-Decent highway mileage (~30 mpg at 75-80 mph on the interstate. This could be improved upon with a 5th gear in the automatic tranny, which I think they now have)
-pretty capable in the snow once I put snow tires on it.
-Lot's of little nooks and crannies to store stuff in.
-Sits pretty tall even for a small car so you have a little bit better view.

    Downsides:
-In town mileage for me hasn't been that great (25mpg max). part of this can be attributed to my right foot however.
-Ride is a little stiff, but it is advertised as a sporty car, so that's to be expected.
-Stock Goodyear Eagle RS-As are horrible in anything resembling snow/ice/slush. I mean absolutely horrible. my first winter in it I had to put snow tires on it. My dad's car had the same tires and he had to do the same thing.
-Black interior/dash shows every spec of dust and dirt. The dash heats up like no other in the sun so tint and those shades aren't a bad idea.
-Backseats are kinda cramped depending on how big the driver is.
-Had some issues with the car sitting outside in the snow and then during the thaw/melt cycle when I wasn't driving it ice would build up inside the doorjam for the hatch and freeze shut. That could be solved by cleaning the car off after it snowed and not letting it sit for a couple of days though.

If you've got a specific question I'd be glad to answer it.

My wife has a Mazda 5 that we bought in march and she loves it. It drives really nice I think I'd be all for buying another one down the road.

    Re: Mazda(s)

Go to Edmunds.com and read the car reviews for the 03 and 06 from both the editors and from actual owners.

I've been looking pretty hard at the mazdaspeed 3. I've got another year before I buy a car. I'm down to another WRX (hatch), the Speed3(hatch), or possibly the new VW Jetta TDI in the sedan or the powerwagon.

    The Speed3 gets great reviews.

    Re: Mazda(s)

My mom has driven Mazdas solely since she was 30 (till a month ago). Most recently her favorite was the Mazda Millenium which they stopped making and replaced with the Mazda 6. VERY reliable cars. Never had one that ever broke down on our family (only one that my mom totalled). Other than performance whise though it is a VERY standard car with the most common features out there. For the same price you could get something MUCH nicer imo. Since my mom just recently totalled the Mazda she recently got a Nissan Altima which was very similar in price but just had way more features and better mpg. So I would say look at them but also take in the competition considering you can likely get alot more bang for your buck.

The Mazdaspeed3 is definitely the darling of it's segment in Car & Driver. I'd have one if I didn't need something larger to haul the family. Fast, functional and agile. The looks are a bit of an aquired taste, but I like them.

My wife has a 4 cyclinder '03 Mazda6 and likes it a lot. We take it on road trips and get about 30mpg on the highway. If you have any specific questions, shoot me a message.
