    Sealing brick walls

I have a friend of mine that has a studio in an older building downtown, the inside of the walls are done in real brick. They stay rather dusty regardless of what cleaning he does.

He's wanting to put some sort of sealant on it - any suggestions as to products and applications? I told him CF rocked as far as a knowledge base and would ask around. :)

    Try Aldon Chemicals... I think it's aldonchem.com

It's what we use at my company.

Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

    Re: Sealing brick walls

My lovely young bride works part time at Sherwin Williams and she says using the same sealant as you would put on an outside patio which would be a concrete/masonary clear sealant but make sure you have a clean surface you are applying it to. Or if he wants color then just prime and paint it.

    You heard it here first...

    Re: Sealing brick walls

He wants a matte clear surface - needs to maintain the color of the brick without too much of a shine.

    Re: Sealing brick walls

Have your friend call United Brick & Tile in Urbandale and talk to Lindsay, he's the sales manager there. He's forgotten more about brick than most people will ever know, and he's a big Cyclone fan too.

FYI, they supplied the brick for Howe Hall on campus for anyone who might care.

    Re: Sealing brick walls

Thanks for the suggestions so far, I passed them along and seem to be helpful.

If there are any additional ones, fire away.
