    Early NCAA observations

UNC-looked horrible last night to Winthrop minus Tyler Hansborough...that kid can play.

Maryland-was sticking it to St. John's tonight...they look talented while St. Joe looked like they've never had a coach before. Daryl Strawberry's son played great for MU.

UNI-gave a tough game to washington......UNI still has a couple starters from their tourney teams...I think they will be decent still.

Florida-I think they will not repeat as champions as all the odds are against them. Yes, they are a great team, but the tournament played out into their favor for matchups last year.

Keep an eye on Loyola of Chicago. A good buddy of mine is the head coach there and he is an Iowa guy. They have a great go-to guy in Blake Schilb. They are picked to win the Horizon and have already played tOSU to a somewhat close game at Columbus.

I fully expect UNI to be our toughest game of the young non-conference season. I would be surprised if ISU beats them.

    Re: Early NCCA observations

It would be a great victory to beat UNI this year. They have much more continuity after hiring from within. I think that was a good move on their part, but I would still rather be us!

    Re: Early NCCA observations

I watched UNI in the first half against Washington, and man they looked good. Doesnt' seem like they lost anyone from last year. Beating them there would look really good, maybe not to NCAA committee, but it should to ISU fans.

Did you forget we're playing Ohio State on the road and they are #3 in the country?

Not to knock UNI at all, But I think both Iowa and Ohio State will be tougher then UNI. Ohio State is 3 in the nation I believe, and Iowa looked pretty good against Citidal!

    Re: Early NCCA observations

Toughest non-conference game is Ohio State. They had the best recruiting class in the nation and their best player Greg Oden is 7'1", we won't be able to handle him. After that I would have to go with UNI, they looked really good against Wash., and they also have good size.

I think Maryland whooped up on St. John's not St. Joe's....

Also Oden will be out when we play OSU as he is still hurt. So we won't have to handle him, however, the rest of the team will still be a HUGE challenge.
