Jack Trice End Zone Update from Pollard

I e-mailed Jamie last week in regards to the basketball practice facility. I mentioned next year should be a fun one for coaches, players and fans because we would have the basketball facility to unveil as well as (hopefully) a bowled in end zone. This was his response...

Thanks for your kind words. We are excited about having the practice facility so soon. Unfortunately the end zone is not going to be bowled in for 2009. Even if we had the funding, and we do not, the soonest it could be done now is for the 2010 or most likely the 2011 season.

Somehow I had a feeling that the endzone for next season wasn't going to happen.

I thought 2010 was the goal from the beginning, I didn't know that they were talking about having it bowled in for next season. Well in 2010, Bates and AA will be seniors and Bo Williams in the backfield, they will need the extra seats to watch this top 10 team.

I thought 2010 was earliest that was projected to be done as well. However, there has been what seems to be more than just mild speculation the project would start shortly after the Missouri game this year.

    Seems that was off-base.

Maybe it does start after the Mizzou game this year, but it's such an extensive work effort that it takes longer than a year to complete it.

That or the work is of the nature that it can't be done during the winter months.

Aaaaand the back-of-the-mind hopes and dreams of pretty much all of CF come crashing to the ground with just two short sentences...

Re: Jack Trice End Zone Update from Pollard

the email also stated funding hadn't been obtained. I guess this means all our speculation about a $25M donation was either A) way off base, or B) said person pulled the donation for some reason. Either way - kinda depressing, but I guess that is what being a Cyclone fan is all about....

Yeah, who was the poster who was going around CF for a month swearing on his mother's grave that we had a huge donor all locked up? We need a word with him...
