    Greetings from DC

My niece got married last week in Baltimore so my wife and I decided to make a long trip out to D.C. since I had never been here. We've had a great time, been to about every building and monument we wanted to, drove over to the eastern shore of Maryland and swam in the ocean and today visited Mt. Vernon and Arlington Cemetary plus today I got to run the mall from Arlington all the way up to the Library of Congress which is on the other side of the capitol building and back. It was a 70 minute run and was so cool to do it!!
I have had no contact with anyone in Ames so hope FB practice is going well and we're excited to get back.

Missed ya Wesley...seems like you haven't been on here in awhile.

Any idea what Newton's chances are of landing Nationwide series race next year? I'd like them to get it, but think they would have to increase seating by 20-25k. What do you think?

And yes, the mall to library of congress is long run. I was always amazed by the amount of people running there at all hours of the day.

    Hi Scottie!!
When they built the track they put in footings for stands and I think they might have put them in all the way around. So to put up stands they can do it almost overnight and I know that was the original plan.

    Re: Greetings from DC

I thought they had done that also from speaking with a classmate who worked on that project. When I was back in town last weekend, some guy said they didn't have the money to put in the stands. Well I figure, you had better have the money or you aren't going to get the money from the race when they come because they won't come. And I agree, you can put up those 20-25k seats in a matter of few months at most. Save a lot of money by doing the footings before hand as these will have to be installed over the winter months and most companies add money in bid due to breaking through the frost line and even the amount of time it takes to get things completed in winter is longer than it is in the spring and summer months.

    Re: Greetings from DC

One of the things I really wanted to see was the Enola Gay, which used to be in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. When we got there it was nowhere to be found and a guy happened to hear me wondering about it and told me there is a new Air and Space Museum out at Dulles Airport, about 15 miles outside of town, and the plane was now located out there. So the next day we drove out there and not only did they have that, but also the Concorde and fighter planes of all eras. Then I noticed this in the far hangar. It is the Shuttle Enterprise which never was in space but was the original they used for glide tests and landing tests.
Anyway, if you go to DC and are interested in planes make sure you go to the museum out at Dulles!!
