    1700 The Champ

I've been listening to this over KXNO except for Marty and Miller but something is really starting to bug me...I don't know if they don't have the advertisers lined but but replaying the same Mike and Mike Peyton Manning/Ryan Leaf No. 1 vs. No. 2 pick promo and the 3 or 4 Colin Cowherd promos are really starting to get annoying.

First, it gets really annoying hearing the same thing every break. Second, are they going to be another victim of Clear Channel's money?

I agree, I don't know if that is an ESPN thing to promote the shows but it does get annoying.

I'm sure its because they don't have advertisers yet. That's why the BTN had all their own promos during basketball games.

Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.

Cotlar and Co is out the window for me. Love Mike and Mike.

Then back to KXNO for Rome, Miller, and Marty and Miller

Citadel Broadcasting owns the Champ. they are the third largest radio group in the nation, and they are primarily owned by Disney. So they have money :)

As for the promos being replayed, yes, they would rather have ads being played than promos.

And the answer is: Unless 1700 gets some local programming Yes 1700 will fall victim to clear channel and its money. Has anyone heard the Squawkeye commercial on 1700 where they say its false controversy and unfavorable treatment on kxno?

DOWN WITH SQUAWKS AND UP WITH AGGIES!!!

Gottlieb and Golic were talking this morning about unnecessary running in practices and brought ups ISU's Tinsley's remarks about not wanting to be on the track team. There's your local angle.

    Re: 1700 The Champ

Those same promos are on the streaming radio so I think its a ESPN radio thing. I'm not sure if they are allowed to place local promos in those slots.

Most stations run promos in a part of their commercial blocks over the course of a day. But the majority of those spot blocks, as they are called, are how a radio station makes money. And the more promos you hear, equals less revenue.

No, they will fall victim to lack of local programming. No one else tells them how to spend their money. But without daily local programming, it's gonna be tough to show up in the ratings book.

I don't like 1700's/ESPN Radio's programming in the afternnoon. The pulse is terrible and Van Pelt & Terrico are tolerable. I typically listen to Mac's World (local talk radio) on 98.3 from 1-4.

    Re: 1700 The Champ

You can't get rid of Mike and Mike or Van Pelt and Tirico, those are the best shows they have. I also really like Gottleib's show. They could probably use something local for the evening drive, but that's about it...

I love VP and Terrico. I wish they wouldn't take so much vacation though.

Yeah….I don't listen to 1700 that much, but I think I could recite their promo's in my sleep.
