Disappointing that they were unable to build it attached to Hilton, but the cost difference makes an off-campus location an obvious necessity. Looks like a great plan!

Not surprised it was approved, but still a fantastic day in ISU athletics to have this become official!

So far, so good on the list of things Pollard wants to accomplish in the facilities master plan. I love a guy that does what he says he's going to do.

too late...i would vote for him over the we have to choose from right now.

As far as depth goes though, the combination of White, Woodbury, Olaseni, Basabe, and Uthoff is much better than Niang, Ejim, Edozie, Gibson. Not because of the top 2, but because of the next 2 or 3. -DeanVogs

Maybe a little disappointing but this puts the basketball program way ahead of schedule facilities wise.

Re: Regents approve ISU basketball facility

The "perfect" solution may have been to connect this to Hilton, as in the original plans. But the right solution was to get it done today, rather than years down the road.

I like this part the most:

"Geoffroy said the new facility will improve the lives of student-athletes, who now shuffle between different practice sites and practice in the evenings, when they should be studying. "I think it has the potential to enhance their academic success," Geoffroy said."

"We are first and foremost an educational institution that values integrity, honesty and treating others with fairness and respect".

No, it might help us get better in basketball, but it won't change anything with academics.

It means that they will be there til midnight or later instead of 10 when state closes...this will result in lower grades...ok I kid

I think our Prez has to find some way to justify & connect the actions to academics. After all, isn't Iowa State an institution of higher academic learning.......oh wait.......nevermind.
