Am I the only one that is totally amazed at how polyester has repackaged itself and made a tremendous comeback?
Once the scourge of fashion, polyester is now chic with companies like Under Armour and Nike leading the way with form-fitting, moisture-wicking performance apparel. Not to mention the advent of microfiber products...everything from clothes to furniture.
Nice job of repackaging yourself polyester!!
I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.
You have to remember when polyester first came out it was described as an indestructible fabric that wouldn't wear out. That was bad news for the clothes industry as people wouldn't need to buy new clothes.
The answer? Make clothes so hideous that no one in their right mind would buy them. Leisure suits were supposed to be the young new hip thing to buy. Of course the only people who bought them were older guys trying to look young and hip.
(did I just say hip?)
Of course now clothes are made in third world countries as cheaply as possible so they fall apart no matter what material is used.
