18 kids from Iowa on SDSU roster and 2 from Ames

I found that a bit of a bummer. 2 big kids as well. Olinger and Fitzsimmons. Hope I spelled them right. Anybody know if these guys will be playing on the 28th? They could bring a bit of extra emotion. I was kinda hoping that SDSU guys wouldn't be as pumped as UNI, since most are from Iowa. Looks like they will have plenty of homegrown talent and lots of emotion when they come.

Time to start a new tradition of playing the D 1 AA the way we should and not down to them.

I can certainly believe they have that many Iowa Kids. When in highschool, SDSU gave 4 kids full rides from the grade above me.

Looks like they've got a kid named Campbell from Cherokee (Washington). I think his little brother is a Cyclone WR.

How we play against the I-AA schools is usually a pretty good indicator of the type of season we're going to have. In the four years we've gone to a bowl and played one we're 4-0 with an average score of about 39-7. In the three years we haven't we're 2-1 with an average score of 19-20.

Re: 18 kids from Iowa on SDSU roster and 2 from Ames

Great.......This game has UNI written all over it. We need to come out and not make mistakes...
Like I said earlier, if we didn't have 413 turnovers (and I mean BAD turnovers) we don't lose to UNI, Kent State and Toledo which puts us at a 6 win team last year. Especially since Toledo and Kent St. sucked last year.

So that is why 5-7 wins is got to be expected this year with OU, Tex and TT off the schedule.

I really don't think I can sit through another loss to a D1 AA team...I can handle going down to iowa because they are on our level but man it makes us look so bad when we can't win the games that are gimmie games on the schedule...Lets hope those days are behind us!

Re: 18 kids from Iowa on SDSU roster and 2 from Ames

C'mon. I'd be alittle worried if someone posted that there were 20 kids from Florida or Texas, but not Iowa. There should be a talent discrepancy on the field on August 28th and it should be obvious. Will we smash them 56-0? History says no. Our new coaching staff is changing that - IMO. I think we'll start to see Chizik teams handling the SDSUs of the world in a way we haven't seen in many years. However, if they run for more than 100 yards I will have some questions pop in my head. But, the same thing happened last year and we came out and beat Iowa after 2 poor showings. Poor showings by our offense. I think it will all look better this year. Yeah, it will. I know it. LET'S GO! [i hope {wimper}]

I wasn't aware there were ever any "gimmie" games on ISU's schedule.

Brock is the one at SDSU. Plays safety, and will be fired up for this game. Was one of the fastest kids in Iowa his senior year. I think Chris is his little brother, and is very fast also, although size is an issue. He is a walk-on at ISU I believe, and is a freshman this fall. SDSU will be very fired up for this game.

I'm surprised that anyone would compare the SDSU program to UNI. Miles apart IMO.

Let's hope the team takes them seriously, or a big "L" is what they'll get.

There isn't. Technically there isn't a gimme on any schedule. Ask Iowa. Ask Michigan. But if you'd like to weigh the odds of us winning or losing this game I'd lean heavily towards a win. This isn't UNI or Kent State. And it's not CU, KSU or Iowa either or Appy State for that matter.

It should be noted that I do not play on the team so my predicting some sort of probable win against SDSU is nothing more than my opinion. Should SDSU fans and players choose to use a 38 year saleman as motivation then, well, sad.

We hammer SDSU this year. No doubts, no fear of losing. Things are different now.
