    College Football Stadium Capacities

Here's a list of the stadium capacities. Iowa State is tied for #49... about where I would expect.

Rivals.com College Football - Packing them in: College football's stadiums

Oh, and apparently it's just Trice Stadium.

I think it would be mind-blowing to be at a game where there are more than 100,000 people. Someday...

Whoever researched that list didn't do a very good job. Michigan Stadium capacity is 107,510 making it the largest.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Does every other stadium capactity listed include all possible standing room? I doubt it.

    Re: College Football Stadium Capacities

I had no idea Tennesee's stadium was anywhere close to that size. I figured it was just another typical ACC/SEC stadium.

Why on earth would anyone want to watch a game at Ohio Stadium from the place where that photograph is taken? That is one of the worst vantage points I've ever seen in college football. Good grief.

Mmm, Sanford Stadium at Georgia is a beautiful sight! When I was there over Thanksgiving, I snuck into the stadium through an unlocked ticket gate, and was able to run right down onto the field (after hopping two walls, anyway...) I took a picture with the statue of Uga next to the teams' entrance, and took a bit of grass from the center of the 50. That was a great day!

    True and Valiant

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

Not sure... Do other stadiums have hillsides like us? A lot of stadiums I've seen are either bowled one way or both.... I would think it doesn't include standing room necessarily. I always thought Michigan sat over 110,000, but I guess I'm wrong...

No, the list is accurate. Beaver Stadium at Penn State is now the largest.
Michigan Stadium has lost capacity with their remodeling and the current construction of suites.

When they're done with the renovations the stadium will be at 108k. Don't what beaver stadium is though.

Isn't A&M going to be something like 115,000 when they renovate?

Well according to the U of Mich website, their capacity is 107,501 and has been since 1998. The current renovations won't be complete until 2010, so maybe the number on the list is what the capacity will be after they add some club seats and suites.

Beaver Stadium is accurate according to the list put out by Rivals.

The capacity on the list is current, for 2008 - that is why they are #2 behind Penn State.
Michigan has already widened their seats and aisles, thus taking away seats, and the luxury and club seats are in the middle of construction, so it would be impossible for capacity to stay at 107,501. Wikipedia below lists the 2008 capacity as the same as Rivals - I would assume the 106,201 figure came from the folks at Ann Arbor...
