    ISU Football vs. Basketball

Which sport do you enjoy more?

I love the basketball atmosphere in Hilton but I also love tailgating before football games.

I've also loved the several bowl game trips made because of the football team.

If I had to choose, I think I would go with basketball though.

Also, with all of this National title talk...would you rather see us win a national title in football or basketball?

Definitely basketball for me...I could only imagine watching the Clones win 6 games in the NCAA tournament!

Football is the pinnacle of American sports. March Madness is exciting and fun, but I'd rather have a BCS bowl.

No question it's football. Basketball is my #2, but it's a distant #2.

I'd rather see a BB title but a big BCS win in football would bring in a LOT more money.

    Re: ISU Football vs. Basketball

The true optimistic fan that I am says that it would be great to win national championships in both. If the football program progresses in the manner that the basketball program seems to be going. I think that we have slight chances at doing both.

    Re: ISU Football vs. Basketball

I guess I'll have to speak for us basketball lovers and say that a National Title in hoops would be much better than football. I don't see any Cinderella Stories in football. I also don't know about any "Jack Trice Magic." You just can't beat March Madness. Don't get me wrong I love football, and have been to every game this year, but basketball just can't be beat.

as much as i am a die hard football fan...when comparing the atmosphere in hilton vs. JTS the past few years, it has to be basketball hands down. The crowd in hilton brings more intensity and excitement to the game. Granted level of performance has a great affect to it, but i can't see anything at JTS comparing to cyclone alley going nuts. especially when the other team fouls out.

    Re: ISU Football vs. Basketball

Basketball rules supreme for me. The team unity and flow of the game are unmatched in college sports. Watching a team play 30 games together and learn from each other every step of the way makes March Madness what it is: the culmination of a season (aka: A TOURNAMENT). Basketball doesn't have some awkward computer generated bowl system which really just creates more rules and hype for what are supposed to be traditional "power conferences". The magic of a Cinderella story and late season run in conference tournaments, the NIT, or the NCAA is special.

I love the underdog, and I love basketball.

Any meaningful football game is equal to watching a game in Hilton if you're sitting in the arena circle against a good opponent.

Basketball, admittedly. With the exception of the Iowa/Colorado games in 2005, the atmosphere at Hilton can get downright electric compared to games at Jack Trice.

    Re: ISU Football vs. Basketball

I guess the real question for me is this, if we can have a basketball program that is traditionally in the top 35 or so with many great seasons under our belt, why can't we in football? Hoops has the same disadvantages as football in terms of budget, conference play, and facilities. More so if you consider B-Ball doesn't really have a practice facility. I know the recruiting dynamic is a bit different but its still an interesting question???

Would have to be hoops. High level success in football is just a pipe dream in Ames. The real Mac can get this turned around for us.
