Re: ESPN's Most clutch players in Big 12 History

I think Vince Young should be more highly regarded simply because of the National Championship comeback. I'll always remember that. That game and the Boise State/Oklahoma game are two very memorable games.

Wasn't Curvey a junior in 05? He hasn't been gone that long has he?

Re: ESPN's Most clutch players in Big 12 History

Huh? Didn't Applewhite lose his starting QB job to the much younger Simms?

The highlight of Brad Smith's career was beating Oklahoma his freshman year. Chase Daniel has done much more in a shorter period of time.

I also agree that Vince Young should be much higher on the list.

Where's Cliff Kingsbury? Where's Ricky Williams (the Longhorn, not the Red Raider)? Where's Adrian Peterson, for goodness sake?

This is a very strange list.

Re: ESPN's Most clutch players in Big 12 History

I thought this was a weird list too.

Vince probably should be #1 with all of his heroics (National Championship, Ok St, Texas Tech). Good to see Curvey got on there but they missed out on Hobbs. Part of our success in 2004 was because of his well timed interceptions.

Agreed on Applewhite, he lost his job.

Re: ESPN's Most clutch players in Big 12 History

Nice post at the bottom by the Husker clown. It's like they have the Hawkeye syndrome, when things aren't going well they have to pick on someone "smaller" to build themselves up and make them feel better. The Big Red coolaid is so thick and noxious that their heads are so far up you know where they can't see the light of day.

I can't wait to play those jokers this fall and I hope nothing more that we send them back to Nebraska with their tails between their legs! I want a win over Nebraska sooooo much more than over Iowa this year.

Props to Curvey. Deservedly so to be on this list. 3 TD's as a Dlineman, you've got to be kidding me. That is ridiculous! I about shot into space with excitement at that Colorado game when that happened. That play was the definition of clutch, it couldn't of happend at a better time. (except maybe OT against Mizzou, or KU)

Simms was given the job, but Applewhite repeatedly took it back, and outplayed Simms whenever he got the opportunity.

Applewhite got robbed because of a legecy ... Sims was not the better QB at the time - but he had that "potential" thing going for him.

Also, I don't think the list is in any particular order ... Vince is last, but the writer calls him 'the most clutch in recent history'. I think its obvious he's top the list - anyone who watched the NC that year could tell you that.

Had Seneca not gotten screwed on the endzone play against Florida State he probably would have made the list.

An Iowa State player is clutch. That is a joke the only thing their clutch at is losing "

If I remember right, Applewhite repeatedly came in and bailed out the messes that Simms and the Longhorns got in.

I nominate Troy Davis. He usually picked up the first down.
