    DISH Network drops WOI...

Any other Dish subscribers out there notice that WOI Channel 5 is no longer on the channel menu. This morning the wife couldn't get it and in it's place was some Dish dude talking about how WOI had unreal expectations and so they are being dropped. I guess I don't watch it that often this time of year but if they don't get it fixed by the time ISU football is on or moreso ISU basketball games are on it, I will not be a happy camper.

When have ISU games been on WOI??? Is that ABC?? If so, I doubt we will be on ABC this year.

Games against KU and Mizzu could easily be on ABC this fall. Nebraska too, if they play like some of the experts think they will.

Just get an HD antenna on the roof, 91. You'll be much happier. :)

Another reason DirecTV is the better choice.

any local TV repair shop should have one. It really depends how far you are from their broadcasting towers. I bought the big one being 65 miles away, and it looks like I could hail the mothership... but the reception is fantastic... even in bad weather.

it isn't for that reason.. and lets not get into a Dish versus DTV ******* match in this thread.... most threads on that can be summed up like this: better hardware: Dish. Better HD programming: DTV.

I don't think many FB games have been on...YET, but isn't Channel 5 the channel that carries a lot of the MBB games on it during the season being the local channel. I am pretty sure I watched quite a few MBB games on WOI over the years when I couldn't make it up there or they were on the road.

What is a good HD antenna cost? I am probably going to have to get one now.

hmmmm, I'll have to check this out when I get home tonight. I live in Des Moines so guess just get a simple over the air HD box should be enough for me. I would guess that you'll see it back before long, DISH is not going to lose a major network like ABC for the long term I'd think. On the plus side no more Grey's Anatomy...

I live in Altoona and I use bunny ears for my locals in HD in the basement and upstairs I just use an extra antenna that was for the remote control(one of the tiny ones) and they work just fine.

Add in the fact that Dish is way less expensive then DTV. Dish you pay the service and the equipment is included. DTV wants an extra $$ for equipment and programming. I can't remember the details but I am getting DISH for $45/month and the same package with DTV would have been $65 with the equipment rentals.

I have this one in my attic (I have alot of space up there), and it works very well. I'm about 15 miles from the transmitter tower farm. However, this antenna is directional. If your local transmitter towers are spread around, you will need a different type of antenna.

    Re: DISH Network drops WOI...

I've still never understood network affiliates charging cable/dish providers for their signal when anyone can obtain their signal for free. WOI should be giving their signal away at this point, with their ratings, they really have no business asking for money at all.
