Re: What Can Mac and Staff do to Stand Out?

I don't know that I'd want to see Mac spinning around, but it would be very cool if we had some type of grand entrance for him like we had with Coach Orr. Really fired up the crowd.

ISU fans are the greatest in the world. All they ask for is hope and the belief that we have a chance to win every time we step on the field - Johnny Majors (paraphrased)

Ya gotta have the horses, man - Johnny Orr.

Maybe be 6'8", taller than most of the recruits, and all of the coaches....oops, I guess he already is.

As far as depth goes though, the combination of White, Woodbury, Olaseni, Basabe, and Uthoff is much better than Niang, Ejim, Edozie, Gibson. Not because of the top 2, but because of the next 2 or 3. -DeanVogs

Re: What Can Mac and Staff do to Stand Out?

    Fine Line....

At UND, NDSU, and UNI he always did something different...

The most successful was probably UNI......

He would come out before the game and throw Mac Maniac t-shirts to the student section....He also had the "Little B-Ball Panther Club" ring the court for intro's and the players after being introduced with give them all "High Fives" before meeting as a group prior to tip off....

These are great thing to do, but may be preceived as "Hokey", non-professional, or juvenile by some standards in the Big 12....

That is where the fine line comes in......Big 12 higher level of professionalism (imo) then the MVC.....

Re: What Can Mac and Staff do to Stand Out?

THis article is about what coaches do to stand out when they go to watch recruits play. Since they can't talk to the recruits they have to do something to make sure they know the coaches are there...

Re: What Can Mac and Staff do to Stand Out?

I've heard a rumor that winning gets ya all the attention one could need. Now...how to get to the winning part is a bit different...

you think Coach K has to do anything? Nope folks kinda know him because he has won a couple games here and there. My guess is, he simply walks in and people know that 'the basketball messiah' has entered their presence.

    Winning is ALWAYS the answer.

All coaches come decked out in their team travel suits. Coach K was at a couple of our high school games when I was a sophmore, recruiting a guy on our team and a guy on another, he was always easy to find.

I was looking for a little creativity, not just winning. We all know that works. But how to you get the players to notice you when you're not winning so they come to your school so you can win.
