Bad call took the wind out of our sails

I was at the CU game, sat on the 50 a few rows up and right in front of the apparent ISU interception in the first quarter. The official right on the play called it an interception, an official 15 yards away, called it incomplete. It was definately an INT Even the CU fans were laughing about the bad call. It was a turning point in the early part of the game and changed the momentum. Mac challenged the call, but with no TV, there apparently wasnt a good camera angle, and the call was upheld. Things went downhill from there, but the players kept fighting until the end.

That call was bull, I had the same response from CU fans around me. That was a great play by Jon Banks and he didn't get rewarded with it. Then they march down field, god I hate the review system when they screw it up! Why have it, if they don't do it right?

The review system seems to have made things worse this year. I can name about 5 games off the top of my head where the instant replay call was complete ****.

Re: Bad call took the wind out of our sales

Looked like an INT to us as well. Not long later, the Buffs were celebrating a score and the Cyclones crumbled.

So, while the poor call hurt us - ISU needs to do a much better job of responding to adversity - both poor calls and big plays by the other team.

Instead, when something bad happens, the team falls apart in a bad way.

Re: Bad call took the wind out of our sales

I agree we have to be more resiliant...but with a fragile situation like the players are under right now, that bad call killed us. With almost an entire new secondary, a play like that was just what they needed. To get screwed by the refs is might tough to take.
    And ESPECIALLY with a replay.

With all the dunces in the play review booth who have no guts and the ridiculous clock changes that cut out 14 plays and made game ending a mess, I say shuck it all next year. Go back to college football, until the replay booth people growup.

Bad calls cost us many games. This just sucks. ISU should stand for I'm Screwed University. I wish we'd win a game from a bad call for a change. We could use the help.

Brings up an interesting subject. When was the last time that an officiating blunder gave us a win? Can't think of any off the top of my head. Will report back to this thread if I can think of any.

Re: Bad call took the wind out of our sails

I was listening to the CU broadcasters (I live about 10 min. from Folsom Field but was down w/ the flu yesterday) and they totally thought it was an INT, but they commented that since it wasn't a TV game the reviewers had much less to work with.... at least thats what they said.

By the way, how many ISU fans showed up at Folsom saturday?

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

Re: Bad call took the wind out of our sails

Back to the how many games has replay screwed us.....CU, Cu last year...remember the Barkema end zone catch, KU last year, TCU bowl game.....I think it was Nickel's catch and run.
Talk about conspiracy theories....how about the way our schedule always stacks up....nobody plays the big boys back to back to back like we do.....okay I'm feeling a little bitter...better start thinking about basketball.

While I get frustrated about poor calls too, good teams don't put them in positions to have the officials help decide the fate of the game.
