    Exclamation Late Plans - Vegas!

OK, so I'm considering going to Vegas for the football game at UNLV. I know this is late in the game and the best deals are probably all taken by now... but I'm not much of a traveler and don't know where to find the best deals. Can anyone help me out? I need quotes for 2 people. I'll only be able to go if I can keep the costs down as much as possible. I tried searching the forum quickly, but most threads are outdated. I'll probably leave Friday and return Sunday if that helps at all.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!!

*Edit- I'd like to leave from Des Moines also, if possible.

This is going to cost you the most.

check out www.priceline.com or travelocity.com and play around with it.

Yea flying out of Des Moines is awful. If I were you I'd try to find tickets out of Minneapolis or Omaha, they're usually cheaper

Allegiant has a 2-for-1 deal right now. Wish I would have waited too.

You realize that it is a Saturday night game, and chances are, you'll have to leave early Sunday morning.

I thought there was a flight out of Omaha that just came available for super cheap. I thought a friend of mine calculated about $300 for roundtrip tickets. (that included everyone's hotel in his calculation, not included with the flight.)

    Re: Late Plans - Vegas!

Ok well thanks for all of the replies, I also had a coworker helping me. Southwest from Omaha on Friday and back on Monday would get down to $300 round trip for one person. That's better, even though it includes an extra day off from school/work. I'll have to look more thoroughly tonight when I have time. If I wanted to get real crazy, a car that gets 30 mpg with four people going would only cost $100 per person in gas.... but then you have to drive a total of 40 hours....

For that matter, you have to decide if it is even worth driving to Omaha.

    Been there, done that.

As far as driving to Omaha, there are more airline options and the cheaper plane tickets make it worth it to drive there...... as long as I borrow someone's vehicle that gets good gas mileage...

    Re: Late Plans - Vegas!

It makes it worth it if the price is right.

I've heard people driving there to save $40 - $50 a ticket. This simply doesn't make a lot of sense (assuming you're starting out in DSM or further)> . Gas, higher parking rates, motel room?, wear and tear on vehicle, what a person's time is worth driving 4 hours round trip to the airport, dangers inherent with driving while tired on trip home, etc. During the winter, I know someone that missed their cruise because they choose to fly out of Omaha to save a few bucks but the weather was bad and they couldnt' get there.

I just ordered two tickets to the Vegas game, looking at flights on allegiant out of DSM - 314/ticket each way.

MGM Grand has 69$ a night rooms for the weekend if you are member of their players club. I will try to find the link.
