    Kelm and Kadima news

Wisconsin High School Basketball - Boys / Youth Basketball - Boys

Iowa latest school to offer scholarship to Randolph’s Kelm

Iowa recently joined Bradley, intra-state rival Iowa State, Marquette, Green Bay and Milwaukee in offering a scholarship to Randolph junior Kyle Kelm.

Dana MacKenzie of the Wisconsin Swing travel-team program said Oregon State and Washington State are also showing strong interest in Kelm, a sweet-shooting 6-9 forward who is slowly but surely adding weight and strength to his long frame.

Meanwhile, two other players on the Swing’s 16U squad – Cedarburg junior Chip Rank and Port Washington junior Josh Gasser – also continue to receive plenty of recruiting attention from Division I schools.

The 6-6 Rank is now hearing from Missouri State, Northwestern and Saint Louis, while the 6-4 Gasser is hearing from Northwestern and Saint Louis. Both Rank and Gasser have multiple scholarship offers, including Green Bay and Milwaukee.

The Swing 16U squad advanced all the way to the Final Four of the Kentucky Hoopfest Tournament and lost by a single point in the semifinals.

Marquette shows strong interest in Kadima

According to Davis, Marquette is among a handful of schools stepping up their interest in Playground Warriors’ combination guard Chim Kadima, a 6-5 junior from Milwaukee Lutheran who missed the 2007-08 prep campaign with an injury.

Kadima, who has offers from Iowa State, Loyola-Chicago, Green Bay and Milwaukee, played in front of Marquette coaches in Louisville, and members of the Golden Eagles’ staff told Davis they will follow Kadima in Las Vegas at another travel-team tournament next week.

In addition to Marquette, Davis said Arizona State, Boston College, Miami (Florida), Texas Tech and Washington State are also showing serious interest.

Meanwhile, a couple of other Playground Warrior players are also receiving recruiting interest.

Arrowhead junior forward Ben Mills currently has offers from Indiana State, Loyola-Chicago and Milwaukee. He has been getting serious interest from Ball State, Butler, Central Michigan, Hawaii, Maine, Ohio, William & Mary and Wright State.

Catholic Memorial junior guard has no offers to date, but is receiving interest from Florida Gulf Coast, North Dakota State, Northeastern, Northern Illinois, South Dakota State, Tennessee Tech, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Texas State.

We need to tell Marquette that we are recruiting someone that we are not recruiting. Just to see if they will bite and offer them.

It's not like they have Crean anymore. We still have a good chance.
