In pictures 4 and 9, what are those curved glass things near the north endzone? Something to do with construction, or some kind of shelter for TV cameras?

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

any idea what the half-moon shaped things are in some of those pics? looks like they're lined up across the back of the north endzone or something.

Thanks. I was wondering if the stadium will be a little louder this year because the West side is more enclosed. Thoughts?

I think it's a walkway to get to the bleachers in front of the suites so you don't have to walk across 30 yards if you're on the end.

    Thanks for sharing!

The hillsides are lookin' a bit dreary - but then again anything would in comparison to that grass on the field - wow!

I really doubt it. I'm no acoustician, but in an outdoor arena of that size, the added vertical surface of the new suites isn't going to do anything noticeably louder. We'll probably only notice a difference when we get a double-deck bowl on the south. Even then, it'll be less about the added concrete and more about the added voices in the seats. Sound tends to escape pretty easily from nice, sloping structures like Jack Trice. If we built the stadium straight up, then sound would have a harder time getting out.

Huh? We're talking about curved pieces of glass sitting on the concrete pad in the north endzone. That's definitely not a walkway for anyone without field clearance.

Those appear to be covered benches (think international soccer) for dignitaries at Friday night's Iowa Games opening ceremonies -- rain is in the forecast. Normally the cauldron goes up in the SW corner, but with construction I think it will be in the north EZ.

Good pics. The suites really change the looks of the west side.

We need to bowl in the south end zone yesterday. The place just will not look big time until we do.

thanks shadow. that seems like a logical answer.

22 i agree that the hills look like total crap next to that amazing new turf... but hopefully they are covered

Maybe I haven't sipped enough Kool-aid today, but I am not overly impressed by the improvements. Sure the field looks really nice, but otherwise I don't think my wife (who goes to about one game a year) would even notice the differences. Oh well, maybe it will be more impressive in person. I know the upgrades to the concession stands/bathrooms will be nice.

I'm guessing they are awnings for the concession stands.
