    Latest news from Dienhart (TSN)

    http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn...c.php?t=147672

He seems to have plenty of sources close to the situation. Also mentions Mike Sherman of the Texans as another candidate. Will be interested to know if JP tries to meet with Brewster while out in Colorado...

Thanks. It sounds like the same coaches (Brewster, Sherman, Pelini, etc.) are being mentioned at the various openings (ISU, MSU, Stanford, etc.). I think it might be a good idea for Pollard to lock someone up early.... so the new coach can hit the recruiting trail. We have some holes to fill!

Wow, Sherman? That could be interesting, not probable though. There are some good names being mentioned for the ISU job. i believe that is a tribute to Mac in itself.

How is that a tribute to Mac??? You are really reaching for that one.

Iowa State is in the Big 12, a power conference, Iowa State is paying pretty well, Iowa State has a fanbase that is starving for a "winner," and will be loyal.

The only thing I could see as a reflection of Mac, is that they have seen some film, and realize that they couldn't coach this bad.

Dienhart is getting most of his information from the ISU message boards. It reads about like the stuff we see here. His "sources" are Jeremy, Paul Clark and Chris Williams. The DsM rag paints a quite different picture of the "candidates". Link:

Re: Latest news from Dienhart (TSN)

The reality of things is if we hire someone that is a part of some winning FB this year he won't be in Ames until after the 1st of the year. You would hope that we at least hire someone that will be part of a bowl game this year or still have NFL obligations to finish.

Mike Shanahan has already said he will not make Brewster finish NFL obligations if he becomes a HC in college.
