    Applebee's Minipack Promotion

Three games including Nebraska...Check this out on cyclones.com

AMES, Iowa – How does football, fun with friends and fantastic food sound to you? If that is an appealing offer, the Iowa State University Athletics Department in cooperation with Applebee’s has a deal that you won’t want to miss.

It’s called the “Applebee’s Mini-Pack” promotion and for only $99 each, Iowa State football fans can receive ...

    * A reserved seat ticket to three Cyclone home games this fall (either South Dakota State or Kent State, Nebraska and either Texas A&M or Missouri)
    * A gift certificate worth $20 to use at any Applebee’s restaurant in the state of Iowa

“Given the recent challenges many Iowans have faced as result of the rising price of gasoline and food as well as the devastation caused by the tornados and floods, we thought this was a great way to provide an inexpensive opportunity for fans to attend several Cyclone football games and have a night out at Applebee’s,” Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard said. “It’s a very affordable price point, includes a bonus gift certificate and offers flexibility for fans to choose the games they want to see. That’s tough to beat.”

The Nebraska game is always one of the most-coveted tickets for Cyclone fans, so it was packaged with one non-conference game and one Big 12 game. Other than tickets in the Cornhuskers’ visiting team allotment, the “Applebee’s Mini-Pack” is the only way for fans to get a reserved seat for that contest.

The $99 price for the “Applebee’s Mini-Pack” is more than a $90 savings from the normal price for tickets and also includes a $20 Applebee’s gift card.

That kinda spoils the "only way to get a reserved seat for NU is with a season ticket" thing.

This tells me that sales are off and that NU fans aren't buying as many tickets as I had personally hoped. That's a bummer.

I am very happy to see this! I’ve been concerned that with a less attractive home schedule this year coupled with the floods and rising gas prices that season and individual game ticket sales would be way down. This should put people in the seats! Great job JP!

Ticket sales must be off by a decent amount. If they were not why would the Nebraska game be included.

We've said it before and we'll say it again: In JP we trust!

Yet another way to gain the good graces of the Cyclone state while turning a good dime for the athletic department.

i think it's a great way to grab the 'casual fan'....i've been sending the press release around to people i know who are observers of isu athletics...but not currently 'friends' of isu atheltics. the response has been rather favorable...i think we should all get out in front of this promotion...i think it's a great deal for the non-season ticket holder. who knows, they see a few home victories they may be onboard with season tickets for the '09 campaign.

Where is Applebee's going to get the fantastic food from? /sarcasm (kind of)

Seriously though, this sounds like a pretty good deal for those who don't have season tickets or can only make a few games. But unfortunately I think this means A LOT more husker fans will be at the game...

And I'll thank them for coming, spending their money and paying to watch ISU beat the tar out of 'em.

But, I'm a proponent of other team's fans subsidizing our facility upgrades.

    Re: Applebee's Minipack Promotion

This is a great deal for those who don't buy season tickets. I went through the web site to see where the seats were (expecting CyPack & Hillside) and got a seat in section G which requires a season ticket price of $350 and a $100 donation. It kind of ticks me off they are making seats available that are in donor seating sections. When I decided to move out of the CyPack sections to a donor section part of the reason was to get away from the obnoxous Iowa/Nebraska fans - now it looks like that is a real possibility this year.

    Re: Applebee's Minipack Promotion

Well.. I just purchased 2 for our family. I can't afford season tickets quite yet, but I do like to make as many games as possible each year.

Now I'm heading to 3 for sure.

I'd like to know the answer to this as well. Did they invent a time-travel machine to go back about 8 years?

I would get one, if I didn't get paid to watch the games.
