Why is everyone down on Favre?

I don't get why everyone is do down on Favre. He took an average team to the playoffs, had one of his better seasons last year and changed his mind about playing. And we don't know the facts, maybe the Packer brass encouraged him to retire. I'm a Viking fan. Favre would look good in purple to me.

I for one, am not down on Favre. He may be an attention hog, but if he wants to come back, that's his decision. And he's still good enough to be on a roster. He's being a bit ridiculous with his flip flops. But if GB didnt grant him a trade, that's probably as childish.

I agree. I was hoping they'd release him, but it'd be too embarrassing if he ended up on the Vikings.

They should trade him for sure. They aren't going to use him at all, and can probably a draft pick or two. That way the Packers can build for the future, and another team can contend..

Re: Why is everyone down on Favre?

Why? Because he's been hosing over the Packers for the past two years, a team that has been loyal to him throughout his whole career. Worse yet, Favre, instead of talking to the Packers face to face, plays his games in the media. He deserves all the ire that is being heaped upon him.

I'm a Vikings fan too. I don't want his drama queen antics anywhere near the purple and gold. Besides, Jackson can force throws into covered receivers just as well as BF can...

Re: Why is everyone down on Favre?

I say he has a contract with GB, if he wants to play, he has to play with them. Im tired of all these rich, spoiled athletes and coaches breaking their contracts and holding out whenever they want something. No play, no pay.

Re: Why is everyone down on Favre?

My bet is he winds up staying retired. He played chicken with the Packers and they didn't waver.

They aren't going to trade him or release him, and he isn't going to sit on the bench behind Rogers, so by default his best out is to stay retired.

Re: Why is everyone down on Favre?

I think he should keep playing chicken. Come back as a roster player, go through spring training fighting for the QB spot, and see if McCarthy would have the backbone to sit him on the first game. I have no doubt the organization would cave and make him the opening day starter.

P.S. I think he is being a P.O.S. for the way he is handling this. I wish he would have just rode off into the sunset like the gunslinger he was.

Not sure about average. The Packers have great young talent on the team and the coaching staff has done a tremendous job creating schemes to help them succeed. Favre had a great year, but both he and the coaching staff deserve the credit.

I am a Packer fan and love what Favre has accomplished in his career and will always respect that. I'm waiting for facts if they ever come.

I read yesterday that the Packers and Favre agreed on a comeback in March, and Favre backed out 2 days before the announcement. Now he's changing his mind yet again. What in the world is going on???

And... I'll eat crow if it happens but you will not see him in purple. Ever.

He is supposed to make something like 13 mil a year for the next 3 years. That is a hefty price to pay for a back up riding the bench.

Why are some people down on Favre? One word: Haters. Most of them are probably Bears fans.

I think it's beyond funny to read posts from people sitting behind a computer talking smack against someone like Favre - they have NO idea the level of commitment, competitiveness, drive, etc. that someone like Favre has and how hard it is for him to walk away from the game.

One more thing - I wouldn't say that the Packers had an "average" team last year.

I'm just glad Rodgers cut his hair. Nothing else matters.
