Oh, that's a great idea. Air travel has been getting WAY too simple and enjoyable lately.

Re: Taser bracelets for airline passengers

Lamperd Less Lethal Inc., the Canadian company that designed the taser bracelet has this to say....

The bracelets remain inactive until a hijacking situation has been identified. At such time a designated crew member will activate the bracelets making them capable of delivering the punitive measure - but only to those that need to be restrained. We believe that all passengers will welcome deliverance from a hijacking, as will the families, carriers, insurance providers etc. The F-16 on the wing-tip is not to reassure the passengers during a hijacking, but rather to shoot them down. Besides activation using the grid screen, the steward / stewardess will have a laser activator that can activate any bracelet as needed by simply pointing the laser at the bracelet - that laser dot only needs to be within 10 inches of the bracelet to activate it.

Re: Taser bracelets for airline passengers

This just in... The national security level has been set to orange. Ok it's been there pretty much since the inception of this system, but whatever.

In other news, The REAL ID act has been replaced with the REAL ID Bracelet Act... all citizens are now required to wear a taser bracelet all the time, so "dangerous criminals" can be tracked and subdued instantly. This will make you all safer.

On a side note... curfew tonight is 8:00 p.m. Braclets for those caught out after hours will be set to "stun" for interegation then "kill". This is to make you safer

Look, another fee airlines can charge for. Now in addition to paying for your first checked bag, snacks, and drinks, you no can pay to have the automatic electrical stimulation turned off for only $25! I can't imagine that ever really happening.

This of course assumes that "designated crew member" has not themselves been restrained by hijackers. Thats also nice that it only needs to be with in 10" of the braclet... as the airline seats provide so much room there is no chance what-so-ever that they'll hit multiple people with that. Especially since they will be standing calmly by the control panel, not running, doging, ducking, or otherwise moving in an aircraft that will definitly be in level, smooth flight with all the passengers seated calmly and orderly

Re: Taser bracelets for airline passengers

If you actually read the letter, airport security is an offshoot. They are manily looking at it for detainees, particuarly with illegal aliens or potential military use (including interrogation "stations"). The airline scenario is by far the scariest of these situations, there is some actual justifications for people who are already detained but I still don't think I'd support the use of shock bracelts in any situation. Tracking braclets at best.

In the airline scenario, it would only be a matter of time before someone figures out how to get one of those things off. And whats to keep a terrorist from hijacking the system? They not only have hostages now but a way of subing and torturing them, preveting another Pennsylvania type revolt against the hijackers, and giving them a nice little continum between shooting a hostage (aka put 100+ screaming people on the phone insted of a gun shot)

And would these braclets be scaled so they can control kids? Or are you going to shock a kid the same as an adult? You know at some point there will be a mix up, or someone that falls just between sizes/voltages, etc...

I know! Lets take even more personal information, and tailor their braclets to their body so we use just enough...! Seriously, scary stuff

This is just stupid. I don't want to go all ACLU on everyone, but when the government starts treating all its citizens as criminals, things have gone to far. I'm surprised they don't just handcuff everyone and lock'em in cages during flights.
