    Will WV save BCS?

Will an undefeated Rutgers go to the BCS championship over 1 loss Mich, Fla, Cal, USC, Auburn, Texas, etc? The computers say no. A loss, probably to West Virginia, will make that problem go away. It's still a challenge to pick the best one loss team. No clear # 2 this year. One year it will be us.

    Re: Will WV save BCS?

If Rutgers wins out and doesn't go...that will be a total hose job. They will have beaten two teams that were ranked #3 at one time.

Also, if WV would have won out...there was NO question they were going to the title game. But they played the same schedule as Rutgers and just as easy of a non-conference schedule.

It's all BS if you ask me.

    Re: Will WV save BCS?

Rutgers and the Big East are over rated, and do not deserve a BCS championship bid. I think WV knocks off Rutgers, but if not, Rutgers will not have the respect at the end of the season to bump a 1 loss team out.

If Rutgers wins the Big Easy, I think they get destroyed against who they play in whatever BCS game they get.

Last night, home field advantage (helping the D) won that game for the Scarlet Knights.

Why did WV deserve to go if they would have won out? Or Louisville for that matter? But not Rutgers???

    Re: Will WV save BCS?

I think either way it blows up. Right now it looks we'll have 3 undefeated teams - winner of Mich-OSU Rutgers and Boise State.

In that case, it's likely Rutgers and Boise State would get shut out, creating controversy. Then you have a number of one loss teams - who gets in?

Same if one or both of Rutgers and Boise State lose.

Right now, no matter how you stroke it, the BCS blows up this year.

    And I love it.

BcS you mean. I agree. Would Rutgers be undefeated playing in the SEC? I strongly doubt it, but we'll never know. Teams like Rutgers and Boise State are screwed because they can win every game on their schedule and not even have the opportunity to play in a championship game. Is that possible in any other sport? At the same time a team like Texas is penalized for playing a tough opponent out of conference. If Texas had scheduled Ohio University instead of Ohio State University, they're probably playing in the Championship game. Why not take the six conference champs in the BCS conferences along with two wild-cards and have a playoff? That way a team like Rutgers has the chance to prove themselves on the field and a team like Texas that loses one game early in the season still has a chance.

    Re: Will WV save BCS?

Rutgers was down 25-7 at one point in this game and there probably wasn't anybody that gave them a chance (other than the Rutger's players and coaches) of winning the game at that point. In addition, prior to the game even starting the oddsmakers and sports writers didn't give Rutgers a chance against Louisville just like some of these posts are saying that they don't deserve a BCS championship.

I say if Rutgers goes undefeated they deserve a shot at the national championship instead of the same blue blood one loss teams that are regularly atop the standings (Michigan, Texas, Florida, etc.)

I don't think we can assume Michigan will be a won loss team just yet, it seems to be considered a formality that they will lose to Ohio St. It is in Columbus, but I guess I just don't buy into OSU being head and shoulders better.

Well Michigan and OSU are interchangable...One will be undefeated, one will have 1 loss.

I highly doubt Rutgers will beat WV on the road, just my opinion. I think it was a fluke that WV lost to Louisville, and I dont see WV losing another game this year!

You may be right but I also didn't expect them to beat Louisville last night either...

    Re: Will WV save BCS?

Mark it down, WV beats Rutgers by 20. And i like Rutgers and think they are a very good team. But WV is head and shoulders better and i really think that more after watching the game last night. Rutgers put all their energy into this game and the momentum drove them to a win they normally lose 8 out of 10 times. not to take anything away from them cuz they deserve and have earned everything. but there isnt a BCS controversy yet b/c i think they will lose. Boise st doesnt count at all. they shouldnt even be in a bcs game. if the were in the sec they lose 5 games easy

    Re: Will WV save BCS?

How can college football finish off this season right? A week ago, the nationwide legion of Big East critics complained vociferously about the lack of defense in the West Virginia-Louisville game. Rutgers gave a defensive perfomance a fan of any conference would admire-and the reality is the Scarlet Knights still aren't being taken seriously as a national title contender-not yet anyway

That's what they said about Utah a few years ago with Alex Smith, and they SMOKED Pitt. Regardless, they can only play the teams on their schedule, and if they really did win out and not get invited to the National championship game... that would be a real shame.
