Anybody else find it funny that a post about being arrested on cocaine distribution charges brings up an ad about how to get rich?

That is pretty funny. I open up some threads just to see what adds were generated for it.

Re: NU fan behind OU hoax

Didn't take long for the first lawsuit to be filed:

    http://www.newsok.com/article/keyword/3270140/

The publishing company is a leading provider of news and information in Oklahoma through its newspaper, The Oklahoman, and Web site, NewsOK.Com.

OPUBCO and sportswriter Jake Trotter sued James W. Conradt, the alleged perpetrator of the hoax, in federal court in Oklahoma City.
The 10-count civil lawsuit accuses Conradt of libel, copyright violations and trademark infringements.
I'm no lawyer but I think copyright violations and trademark infringements has a better chance of sticking than some deep pocketed helicopter parent who got his underwear in knots over the article.

It's kind of ironic that Conradt, who's still an idiot bTW, was the subject of an article in the Lincoln newspaper article 3 years regarding internet message boards:

    HuskerExtra.com - Lincoln, Nebraska - Huskerextra

"It's kind of a hierarchy, you know. The more people give their insider info that turns out to be true, the more they build their credibility. I'm not one of those people," said James Conradt, aka DarthHusker. "It's funny. New people come along all the time and are naive and believe too much of what they read. A lot of people just post stuff to stir the pot."

"I think anonymity brings out the worst in people," Conradt said. "There are no consequences for saying what you say. I think that's probably where the whole concept of flaming comes from. They probably didn't have that in the old days around the coffee pot at work, the profanity-laced, ultra-negative outbursts."

Re: NU fan behind OU hoax

When this story "fake" broke last week the local sports radio station down here in Austin was about 5 seconds away from stating it as a confirmed story over the airwaves. As the hosts were just getting started with the intro to the story their producer came in audibly over the top of them to interrupt and kill it before it hit the air.
