i am confused also, so is he going to make it here or not?

That would be a good thing for him and ISU. Wish him the best.

    Sorry to hear that.

But will he be in Ames greyshirting like the previous post suggests?

He's not listed as an active student when you type his name into the phone/email search on the ISU homepage. That is usually the best way to know if someone is enrolled at the university, and his name brings nothing up. Not a good sign.

I believe greyshirts do not enroll until the spring semester. That would allow Chase and Ethan Tuftee to have 5 years to play 4 after this fall.

They usually enroll as a part time student.

Correct. To get the greyshirt a student-athlete HAS to enroll as part time to delay his eligibility clock starting. It doesn't matter where just as long as it is part time.

Really I don't think we've been bad at TE. Maybe not great, but there have been moments. Walter Nickel was exciting at times - Houtson Bowl, when he rolled over the defender, kept his feet, but was called "down".[/quote]

WOW that Walter Nickel catch in the Houston Bowl was sick, too bad the zebras blew the call.

So a JUCO or community college would count, right? Anyone able to check the DMACC student listings?

I've long understood it that the eligibility clock does NOT start running until the day a student-athlete first enrolls in college. Thus, no reason to enroll until January, when the clock would start, I take it.

However, perhaps I've long understood the subject wrongly. Oh . . . unless I misunderstand, and you're saying by enrolling part-time, not full-time, the clock does not start?

If Chase were to enroll at ISU part-time, though, he could not be on athletic scholarship, correct? That might be an expensive route to take. So, maybe Chase won't arrive here till January?

    So...check on the 25th?

I just hope Chase makes it to ISU sometime. He looks like not only a special player, but a good person if he's DD's good friend

This is correct. The clock starts when you become a full-time student. In order to play you must be enrolled as a full-time student.

Alson, I believe with the grey shirting you need to have 24 credits within the past year prior to the start of the school year of the year you are playing. Basically, 8 in the fall, winter, and summer semesters for Chase to be eligible to play next fall. I believe this second part is correct, but am not totally sure and am confused enough by the NCAA to not feel the need to look it up.
