    Jennings to Europe

ESPN - Lawyer says Arizona signee Jennings heading for Europe - Men's College Basketball

It will be interesting to see how the NBA and David Stern deal with this latest development.

If Jennings goes overthere, earns a ton of money and plays great, becomes the #1 pick in the draft what will stop everyone from doing it?

Maybe Harrison doesn't even go to college, straight to Europe to play with Homan and Jiri.

    Re: Jennings to Europe

I doubt the NBA will care. What they're concerned with is guys coming from high school with no one knowing how good they really are. Beyond guys like Lebron, Kobe, KG, teams are taking a huge risk signing kids from high school. Some turn out some don't. Going to Europe will get them the same experience that college would. I don't think the NBA cares whether or not the kid is being paid just as long as they know what they are getting.

This doesn't suprise me, it's been rumored for a couple of months. On a side note, has anyone seen Jennings hair? Now that is old school.

Whitlock wrote an interesting piece about this on foxsports. Here's the LINK

I don't agree with all of what he said, but he does bring up some very interesting points.

The NCAA needs to be blown up. It pimps mostly black basketball and football players to provide welfare to sports played by mostly white athletes. In exchange, the football and basketball players get a half-baked shot at an education they're not prepared for upon arrival and a long-shot audition for pro scouts.

Whitlock always turns it into a race issue. I understand what he is saying, but I'm not sure I would have spun the article this way.

He does make some good points about the athletes, white or black, not being ready to value or participate in the education they are receiving.

So not true! Whitlock has written many articles in which he has called out people who bring out the race card where there is no validity in it. I think he is the most realistic, level headed writer out there. He plays no favorites and sees it like it is. I don't always agree with what he says, but I respect him. IMO he is one of the best writers in the country

I think we may see more of this in the future, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

Not for us, we don't sign these kind of players. Except for Ivan of course.

I don't catch Whitlock everyday since I'm not in KC, it just seems when I hear him this is what he is preaching about.

    Re: Jennings to Europe

I've never heard him discuss anything without race involved. I'm not saying that's all he discusses but it's all I've ever heard or read from him.

    Re: Jennings to Europe

I think Jennings is doing the smart thing. If I had a kid who was a sure fire lottery pick, I'd think about sending them to Europe for a year too.

I don't think this would help Jennings, as he doesn't appear to have the scores to get into school, but I think athlete should be an option as a major in college. A student can major in drama or band, why not basketball.

You can major in Sports Management at most schools. Taking classes in coaching, athletic training, etc. It's a pretty good option for Athletes and people who like to drink a whole lot of Jack Daniels and still graduate.
