    Looking ahead.

I can't wait until we start having winning records so we don't have to make any more road games against teams like UNLV, Northern Illinois, Army, Kent State, Ohio, Toledo.

Although that is closer to the level we play at, it would be nice to start having a schedule that is either challenging or easy to win.

Not playing AT schools that most people see as 'easy to beat'.

    Re: Looking ahead.

I'd agree. But until we actually take care of business and consistantly beat the Kent States and Toledos, we'll keep getting more of the same.

I'd actually like to see home & home games against Minnesota and Northwestern. Road trips to Minneapolis & Chicago would be a lot better than what we do now for non-con games.

I don't mind going to play at West Point, it is a pretty neat place and a cool stadium. Football wise though, it is rough having to make those trips. At least for most of those we get 2 home games to 1 road game.

I don't mind the teams we play now...they are at our level and really gives you a sense of where we are after those games...and UNI should be a game that is easy to win!

    Re: Looking ahead.

I think that the two for one road games are just the way it is now with MAC, Sunbelt and MWC teams. Only the very elite teams can schedule mid majors with no return game. Wisconsin played at UNLV last season and we have a LONG way to go to get to their level.

Hell, if you're Army, you just back out of the away games against teams like us anyway.

Not sure why we decided to sign on with another agreement like the previous one. They're going to hose us just like they did before.

Actually we play Army in 2009 at Jack Trice, while the return trip isn't on any of the schedules up to 2015.

So, do we think they'll show up this time?

    Re: Looking ahead.

The only thing I would change about ISU's schedule is the 1-AA schools. I know many other schools play against that level, but ISU also plays some really bad mid-majors too. I say add another one of those. I understand ISU is not a world beater at this point but someday I hope to get to the point where the SOS has a say in what ISU does when the season is over.

I love playing quality mid conference teams, but Id rather do it at home only. I mean do Nebraska, Iowa.. etc play these teams on the road?

    Re: Looking ahead.

I know Wake Forest is an ACC team, but Nebraska did go there.

And their fans had to buy season tickets for that game

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

There are not many crowds or places in the country that have a better impact on the game than at Iowa State. The Cyclone fans are truly a sixth man. The place is so loud and always a fantastic crowd." - Former Kansas and current North Carolina head coach Roy Williams

There's this website called cyclones.com. It has a bunch of ISU athletics information.

Iowa is playing at Pitt this year, and played a neutral site game against NIU last year.

That's just so Ferentz can scout the sideline view of a future employer's stadium.
