    Airport security

I saw this in the TODAY show today. Would you rather be "X-Rayed" or patted down searched?

I belive the X-Rayed would be a invasion of privacy- Especially if Giambi wears thongs at the time.

Do we get to choose who does the patting? Or maybe I would like the x-ray if I thought I had a broken bone and didn't have insurance to go get an x-ray done at the hospital.

    Re: Airport security

Personally I would rather be patted down, but probably feel safer for the flight if they did the ex ray. I have been 'randomly' chosen for a pat done dozens of times and it would not be hard to sneak something through...

I'm all for it...especially with old people. Now if I see old people in a line I automatically go to the other line even if its longer.

Brian got randomly selected at the airport in Jamaica. Then some ****** in an U of I shirt laughed at him. Brian was wearing a ISU shirt of course. I should have kicked the U of I guy in the nuts.

    Re: Airport security

My mom accidently went through security with her scuba knife. It closley resembles my Marine K-Bar. She was randomly selected for the security guy and he moved it out of his way while serching her purse. So he moved the knife in it's sleave to see if there was anything dangerous in her purse.

I feel confident that our security sucks.

The only thing that I learned from being pated down by being randomly selected is that those guys have no humor at all.

    Re: Airport security

TSA is a joke. It's just security theater. I have never understood why we don't have the same security for trains and buses that we do for airplanes.

    Re: Airport security

the screening you are talking about is not random the people you have mentioned were probably sent for additional screening by the airline, yes TSA does set standards as far as the ways tickets are bought and other criteria that should not be discussed here, but the fact remains the airlines will not let them board the plane without the screening taking place. so yeah you can think that tso going through a nuns things is wrong but it is the only way the airline will let her board. airlines can deselect TSA cannot.

    Re: Airport security

I remember landing in Honolulu a couple of years ago, going by a security checkpoint and it wasn't very busy at all, there were very few people going through. One of the people who got "selected" for the "random" pat down was a freaking hot blonde. Well, her husband busted into a tirade toward the TSA folks about how she "always gets the pat downs" and such. You can probably imagine how the tirade went. The TSA agents just kind of stood there like deer in headlights, not sure what to do. The guy just kept on yelling and finally started walking away....still yelling.

It was an odd thing to witness.

This is no joke. Attractive women have a much better chance of getting "extra attention" for TSA security measures. So do soldiers travelling on official orders.

Though there is a certain sense to singling out soldiers, older people, nuns and attractive women. If I were "red-teaming" the TSA to get something through security, that's who I'd elect to carry weapons/bombs/whatever onboard.

Of course, when I fly, I like to have intimate relations with my pilot so she will get me through TSA....

Of course, my wife is my pilot.

True story: When we flew to Germany, en route to Kuwait/Iraq in 2003, we had to go through security. The rules as I clearly recall them is that we had to give up nail-clippers, pen-knives, etc, but carried on M240 machineguns, M16s rifles, M9 pistols and bayonets.
