And why did it take the other patrons of the hospital an hour to respond.... there has got to me more to this story..... some of the pieces just don't fit.

I wondered the same thing. Why did others just sit there? Is it just easier to act like it's not happening instead of getting involved?

Re: Woman left to die in hopital waiting room.

This video was on the Today show this morning. It shows two or three cops looking at her on the floor and walking away. A doctor comes in the room, looks at her and leaves. Then a nurse comes in, kicks her to see if she responds. When she doesn't they get the stretcher and start to do work.

I could not believe was I was seeing.

There were other patients in the room but I do believe it was a mental institution and those individuals might not have been in the right frame of mind to respond.

Re: Woman left to die in hopital waiting room.

I will say that have no medical background at all, and I hate to be in a hospital for anything. BUT if I saw a woman fall out of her chair like that, I would like to think that I would call/ run for help asap!

Re: Woman left to die in hopital waiting room.

I remember one professor at ISU would start his lecture, fake a heart attack or general collapse, hit the ground, and start a stopwatch to see how long it took students to respond. I don't know the exact times, but they were pretty staggering. People look around at each other, but no one takes initiative. He had to stop doing this experiment, because he actually hit his head one when he "collapsed" and was injured!

Monsignor: And I am reminded, on this holy day, of the sad story of Kitty Genovese. As you all may remember, a long time ago, almost thirty years ago, this poor soul cried out for help time and time again, but no person answered her calls. Though many saw, no one so much as called the police. They all just watched as Kitty was being stabbed to death in broad daylight. They watched as her assailant walked away. Now, we must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men.
Connor: [as the brothers exit the church] I do believe the monsignor's finally got the point.
    Murphy: Aye.

You're first gonna have to remind me which building Lush is in - is it the Psych building or Curtiss?
