    2010

coach chizik needs to pick up lache seastrunk as a running back for the year 2010. seastrunk is a fine running back from temple texas who averaged 11.8 yards per carry as a soph.this would help our running back strength immensely for year 2010.

I think we made contact in 2001. 2010 is when Jupiter becomes a second sun.

All of it's moons are ours to work with except for Titan.

Did you guys note that Arthur C. died not long ago? Really liked that guy. He had a long, productive life.

2001 was when we learned they were there, 2010 is when we communicated.

Yeah - that was a bit of a bummer.

He used to host a show on Discovery and always mentioned that he also "invented" the communications satellite.

I just like the idea of a guy named Seastrunk on the team.

I recall something about he came up with the idea of a series of synchronous satellites in "stationary" orbits; i.e., high enough to match the Earth's rotation speed and therefore maintain position relative to the Earth.

IIRC, Arthur C. came up with this concept about 1945, when he was an enlisted man in the British military. Pretty bright stuff you'd think, 12 years before the first-ever successful satellite launch to achieve orbit.

Years ago my brother and I attended a lecture Arthur C. gave at Coe College, and a handful of us sat around later talking with him. That was a real treat.

Doesn't seem like a lot of people much like Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey," but I loved it (most of it, anyway).

I liked it too, but the last half an hour is a real mind****. Every time I watch I have to pay closer attention to the details in the last scene, but I still have trouble wrapping my mind around it.

I also remember hearing that there was some actress (and I can't remember who right now!) that came up with a way of multiplexing messages or something during WWII. Not something that you'd expect there either!

Wow, from the future of the football program, to sci fi, to topless actresses, to a Blazing Saddles reference in 13 posts..... this could very well be the greatest thread every created by man.
