    Did anyone else...

Shed a tear when McCarney first started crying. He was talking about how the iowa-iowa state rivalry has grown, i can admit i did, and i am not ashamed.

In the Morgan presser i didnt have much sympathy for him, but for Mccarney it was like watching 2 different pressers.

I felt so bad for this guy, all he has done for this program, all he has accomplished and now this has to come to an end.

After watching that, I feel like I was just kicked in the gut. We may be fortunate enough to find another coach who will win more, but we will not find another coach who will want to be at ISU more than him and will pour his heart and soul into the program.

No tears, but I really felt bad for the guy. The one thing I didn't like however is how he went back to talking about the tough schedule and the injuries.

    Re: Did anyone else...

I was driving home and by the time I got home, I was a mess. I walked into the house and I think my wife thought I got fired from my job. It SUCKED....SUCKED......SUCKED. I'm glad I wasn't in public when I watched it that is certain.

I know it probably had to happen just as it did, but I feel like I lost my favorite uncle. With Coach Mac, even though the results weren't there this year, he put more effort and heart and soul and you could just feel the love he had for ISU. It has had to have been a very tough couple weeks for Mac, Pollard & families cause Jamie was having a hard time as well. Watching the Morgan presser sucked a little, but this is exponentially tougher.

Mac you will always be in our hearts....God bless you and your family

I'm still shedding tears. Coach Mac is the classiest man you will ever know.

    Re: Did anyone else...

I knew I would be sad, but didn't expect that I would be sobbing like I was! My husband played for Coach Mac and even though this season has been tough, he did not want to see him go...the guy is a class act. You could just tell he genuinely loves Iowa State. I know in our hearts the "Cyclone Football Family" will always include Coach Mac...best of luck to you and thanks for the memories!

    Re: Did anyone else...

While I have been riding Mac this season for our less than stellar performances, every memory I have of Iowa State football lies with Dan McCarney. 378 yards rushing by Troy Davis vs Mizzou, a few NEAR heisman misses, a few NEAR Big 12 Championship game misses, a 9-3 season, 5 straight victories over our nemesis the Hawkeyes, the game against Florida State in which Seneca DID get into the end zone at the end, the run by Wallace vs Tech, and most importantly Dan made us believe that at Iowa State we should expect to win and compete with nearly every team we play against. Thank you Dan, we will miss you. Good luck in the future!

    Re: Did anyone else...

the whole press confrence hit me alot harder than I expected. It choked me up quite abit.

Like they said on the John Miller Show today, if you ever constructed a Mt. Rushmore for ISU, I think it would have to be johhny orr, pete taylor, gary tompson and dan mccarney
