Breakdown of NBA Draft Picks by School

Interesting article over on Rivals breaking out the number of draft picks to come out of Div 1A schools over the last decade. A few things that stood out to me, the Big 12 has 3 schools without a draft pick in the last decade. ISU has the third highest total in the conference with 4, Iowa has just 1. And of recent interest, the NBA talent factory that is Syracuse has produced 6 draft picks in the last 10 years, not much more than the Clones.

Cuz Wes went to the 'Cuse? Yep, he was king in Ames, but he needed more.

Not trying to start another Wes debate, but there were a lot of people thinking that maybe he was interested in going somewhere where he would have a better chance of making the pros, this wouldn't seem to hold true for that.

Anyways, I'd rather focus on a fresh topic that hasn't been beaten to death on this board.... Hawk Bashing!

That is crazy that Iowa hasn't had a player drafted in 10 years...

    K-State hasn't had a player drafted in 20 years!

Sadly, that streak will be broken this year.

I count 3 first round draft picks, not 2.

    Kelvin Cato-15th overall
    Marcus Fizer-4th overall
    Jamal Tinsley-27th overall

I wonder how many other schools aren't correct?

The chart says since 2000, though. Cato was late 90s.

I thought Haluska was drafted to the Hornets.

I hate to give the Hawks credit, but this list appears inaccurate.

Re: Breakdown of NBA Draft Picks by School

It's confusing because the list is Draft Picks since 2000. Then they list the number of draft picks, and the number of 1st rounders, then the most recent first rounder. So in Iowa's case, they have had one pick since 2000 (Haluska) and no first rounders.

Re: Breakdown of NBA Draft Picks by School

Bowen was a second round draft pick of the Denver Nuggets in the 1998 NBA Draft,
    Evans was undrafted in 2002.

According to my math that list pust us in a tie for 23rd nationally (with about 20 other schools). Not too shabby.
