diante garrett: great penetrator, but could not make a shot till the very end when he made 2 3's.

charles boozer: loves to shoot. shot decent from 3. drove very strong to the hole and finished. looked good.

LA pomlee: overweight, but capable of becoming a beast. good rebounder, strong finishing tonight.

wes eikmier: didn't do much, a couple good drives. and a couple 3's.

dirk nowitzski aka JVB: loves the 3 and nailed a lot of them great shooter not much rebounding.

scott christopherson: didn't do much, pretty much the same as wes eikmier.

sean haluska: looked really good. hit tons of shots and was a strong driver.

bryan peterson: didn't do much but ran the offense well. couple good shots.

dominique buckley: not as good as usual but didn't see first half. couple good shots and passes though.

harrison barnes: 10 points 3 dunks not much else.

    Thanks for the update.

Where's Lucca? Maybe he is visiting his family.

Thanks for the update. It is good to hear that Boozer is doing well. I like that JVB can shoot, but who is going to rebound?

Question about JVB....Is McD going to have the same problems with him as he did with Jiri? You know how Jiri wanted to be an outside guy but McD wanted him to be an inside guy, a dispute which almost got Jiri deported. Is the same thing going to happen with JVB and McD?

From what I've heard here, the staff realized that JVB is a finesse guy, and will want him to play outside often. I am concerned about rebounding, too, but JVB outside will certainly create some matchup problems.

The difference is that I believe GMac believes JVB is more of a perimeter player. He stated that JVB was the best Juco perimeter shooting bigman in the country.

JVB is here so Brackins does not get double teamed in the post. If JVB's 3s are not falling, Hamilton and AT will be playing.

Any other reports? I like to get multiple opinions of the games.

    Re: Capital City League 6/25

I was there as well. I have a differing view on at least one player. Eik, I thought looked better than what you let on. He didn't shoot the 3 well but he actually drove and finished in the paint a lot. I was pretty impressed with him last night actually, his 3 wasn't falling but he proved he was quick enough and strong enough to handle the ball, get into the paint, and finish.

As far as JVB goes, he shot extremely well and I think it's hard to say in these games how a big guy will actually play. There isn't much of an offense run and with these guys playing all day I'm sure they're a little tired.

For the most part I thought the write up above was right on, I was just more impressed with Eik that he was I guess. We all know the kid can shoot, so I like to see him penetrate. I also thought DG played well, didn't shoot well from outside but he was able to penetrate and score in the paint.

As a side note, Jiri Hubalek stopped in for at least a little bit, and I believe I saw Curtis Stinson sitting near the Iowa State players. That was not the first time I've seen him at the summer league games either. Its nice that he still seems to have an interest in Iowa State basketball.

He is living with Jiri, and several other players, and doing individual workouts at the ISU facilities.
