DM Register still reporting no resignition

Peterson talkedto McCarney this morning about the KCCI report. Al McCarney said that he has not resign, nor told any one that he was going to resign.

And this is true because negotiations probably are not completely over so this will be the official line from the school. Even Pollard would probably say this until the press conference.

Re: DM Register still reporting no resignition

was just gonna post this. whats the chance that maybe he stays n we lose maybe a coordinator instead? (cotton) i know im probably in the minority but i would love for mac to have another year to prove to everyone that this year was a fluke. its just really hard for me to c isu without its captain. mac has made a huge difference in the way most people look at isu football and i dont want to c it end like this. coach mac WAS isu for several years and i think he desreves better. if its true that he is really gone, i will sure miss that gameface.

Sounds about 99% impossible right now. Mac has done alot with a little during his years, but the last 3 years still should have been alot better then they were.

Re: DM Register still reporting no resignition

Clonerules - I'll be with you in the minority. I think in a nutshell that we are a victim of our own success, that injuries, bone-headed players on roids and going into bars a week before they're 21, as well as terrible offensive play-calling, all contributed to this year. Could have a coach like KF or even say Mack Brown or Pete Carroll gotten us two more wins with our talent? Maybe...maybe not. We'll never know, but I tend to hope that DMac has one more year, but then ISU is stuck trying to hire great coordinators knowing that the HC pretty much has a choker on. Tough call for JP.

He had that chance last time we pulled an 0-fer in the conference. Once is a fluke. Twice is a trend.

And sharing the big 12 north title didn't prove it was a fluke?

    PS--we're not 0-fer yet.

Not in the way we got that share. Basically we lost when we shouldn't have. And lucked out that other teams lost just enough to keep us in the running only to blow it all at the end. 2 losses in the conference with our schedule and a share and I'd have said OK, that's a tough break. But, to get everyone to lose that you needed to and still blow it at the end just doesn't sit well. Considering the quality of the division the last couple of years and looking at everyone else who finished with our record, yes, it was a fluke.

Re: DM Register still reporting no resignition

I hear the arguments from both sides. They all have merit - some more than others. But, what seems to be happening across the board, is that fans have become excited by Pollard and the possibility of what we could be. Two years running as the co-champ in the B12 North was great, yet a lot of folks were agitated that we couldn't seal the deal. That underlying frustration has just kept building this season.

We can make excuses ad naseum for why things didn't work out, but in the end, Pollard is paid to make the decisions. All I can do is support ISU and say "thanks" to Mac for his accomplishments, great attitude and leadership.

Exactly! That loss to KU last year was enough for me, let alone starting 0-6 this year in conference play. Keep in mind that we are not much better than UNI, Toledo and UNLV. We had all of those teams at home with a healthy roster and BARELY won!

Eh...there is no way any of the coaches mentioned would have blown either of the season finales the last 2 seasons. Mac single handedly lost each of those games by going into hibernation mode and hoping for time to run out.

The Mizzou FG was a gimme, I'll give ya that. But I nearly vomited watching Mac attempt to coast to the title game at Lawrence. I put that solely on him. We wouldn't have needed a FG had he pulled his thumb out of his rear end and kept passing the ball which had worked all game long.

What? You mean that mac came on the field with shoulder pads and soccer cleats, watited for the snap, took the three steps, swung his right leg, and pushed the kicks wide right?

sorry, make sure you put the blame where it's due - you can't blame those fgs on mac. those were all culbertson. blame mac for the boneheaded playcalling, but you can't blame mac for shanking field goals, throwing picks, fumbling at the 5, or getting personal foul penalties.

please mac, take the resignation. i appreciate what you've done here and hope you land on your feet

Re: DM Register still reporting no resignition

the overwhelming problem with most of you guys who want Mac to stay is that you seem to forget that the same thing happened in 2003, the same thing and he got to stay and fire his coordinators. He already had his second chance to prove that 2003 was a fluke and it obviously wasn't, he has gone as far as he is going to go and we should appreciate what he has done a lot because he has done a lot, but we need someone to take the program to the next level, because despite the media's perception, it can happen at Iowa State and Jamie Pollard knows this. I wish Dan the best of luck, but he had his chances, we got to bowls, but that shouldn't be the peak expectation, just to get to the bowl. We should be getting better bowls and contending for the North title most years, that is the next step!
