    Rain?

I know this is going to sound bad considering some areas are still under water, but my grass is getting crunchy already! This weather is nuts. I cannot believe I have to go water after this spring.

    Re: Rain?

I mowed my lawn yesterday for the first time in a week. This was clearly the shortest and crunchiest my grass has been while mowing my lawn. If we don't get a significant rain soon, I won't have to mow again for two weeks. And I'm not complaining in the least.

    Re: Rain?

I think I'm just going to pave over my lawn and then lay down some of that green "lawn carpet" stuff.

Then I can buy one of those old-style rotary lawn mowers and just pretend to mow the lawn. Just like they did on The Brady Bunch.

I've been saying that Monday was the start of the drought. Turned on my irrigation mid week. Will probably have to leave it on for the rest of the Summer now.

    Re: Rain?

I got quite a few strange looks from the neighbors last night while I was watering my yard. It was getting pretty crunchy on the bare feet.

    Re: Rain?

I don't want to water my lawn. I'll let it turn brown. I really don't care. BUT, we finally got our sod installed last Sunday and it really hasn't rained since. Now I'm pulling sprinklers around. It really sucks. I don't want my sod to die.

    Re: Rain?

yeah I planted a bunch of grass last fall. We had an addition put on our house and they destroyed the backyard with skid loaders and concrete trucks. So now I have to water the heck out of it since it does not have deep roots yet.

    Re: Rain?

Im gonna have to pull out the sprinklers here pretty soon. The have been several people doing it for a week already.

Last night I had wished we had gotten a lot more than the 5 minutes of solid rain we got. Today it spat for a couple minutes as well, still not enough.

If they could only spread out all the rain we get every spring throughout the year. It all runs off and hardly does any good.

    Re: Rain?

Got a slight shower in Des Moines around 6ish tonight. Just enough to get the concrete wet really. A little shower once in awhile won't hurt much but I don't want another 3 inch rain like we were getting a couple weeks ago.

    Re: Rain?

You city people are worse than us farmers when it comes to the weather. We dont need any rain for atleast week. The crops are starting to look good and we need dry weather to get some work done.

    Re: Rain?

Just took the dogs outside and looks like some possible showers coming from the NW.

But I guess if it were to rain for more than 10 minutes at a time, Ed Wilson and the other local Meteorologists wouldve broke into programming with this earth shattering news.

haha. Ain't that the truth!? I really don't watch much network tv, so I don't see much of it. But, I think the doppler was on every night of the NBA finals. I think one was a high wind advisory...
