    Re: Football fan?

I know that this is in the Pro Sports forum, but football in general is the air that I breathe. If I was stranded on a desert island, I would turn down any number of classic books, timeless albums, and historical figures(live or dead) for a single television with NFL Sunday Ticket.

I may even turn down water for said television and satellite.

Football is better than all things, except one. I suppose that "one" is up for debate, though I can probably guess what most men would say.

    Re: Football fan?

I like football, but I like the atmosphere at a game more than watching it on TV. I certianly can't get excited for a game that doesn't include the Cyclones, Bears, or Gators. I may watch a bit, but it won't have my full attention...

The NFL is one of the only sports I can watch (with college FB and basketball) that even if I have no interest in either team, I can watch a full game.

    Bo Jackson: Famous Football Quote
If my mother put on a helmet and shoulder pads and a uniform that wasn't the same as the one I was wearing, I'd run over her if she was in my way. And I love my mother.
    Vince Lombardi
Football is like life, it requires perseverance, self-denial, hard work sacrifice, dedication and respect for authority.
    Anthony Burgess: Football Quote
Five days shalt thou labour, as the Bible says. The seventh day is the Lord thy God's. The sixth day is for football.
    Tom Landry: Football Inspirational Quote
Football is an incredible game. Sometimes it's so incredible, it's unbelievable.

And if nothing else gives you goose bumps, there's always:
    Jack Trice
The honor of my race, family and self is at stake. Everyone is expecting me to do big things. I will. My whole body and soul are to be thrown recklessly about the field. Every time the ball is snapped, I will be trying to do more than my part... Fight low, with your eyes open and toward the play. Watch out for crossbucks and reverse end runs. Be on your toes every minute if you expect to make good. Jack.

Being both a Cyclone and Raiders fan is like having your junk used as a speedbag by a professional boxer. Yet I keep coming back for more abuse.

Not to get all misty but: my "one" before I had a kid wasn't better than football.

However, after watching my daughter come into the world earlier this year-that's my "one" that kept me from voting for the 50 yardline...couldn't imagine a better honeymoon...

    Re: Football fan?

If we are talking about NFL football my answer is much different than if we are talking about football in general. I like the NFL and watch it to the point of having my wife wonder if she has a husband during games, but my passion for it doesn't touch my passion for the college/hs game.

My passion is for football as a sport. College, Pro, it doesn't matter. My wife has learned that NFL Draft weekend is a great time to go shopping or read several books, because spousal interaction is non existent.
