Is our 2010 Dream Class JD, HB, and MP?

So much has been written here about ISU recruiting, I've lost track of some points. Hope someone can clear this up quickly for me.

    Questions:

    > Jordan Dykstra (PF), Harrison Barnes (SF/SG), Marcus Paige (PG) are all Class of 2010 recruits?

    > At this point, any reason to believe all three won't become Top 100 players? (JD is now Top 50 or close to it, HB is Top 10 or close to it; what about MP?). What's really cool, all three are Iowans.

    > No reason to think we won't have as many as three scholarships available in 2010, correct? (Not sure how our current roster translates in this regard.)

    > Any reason to think these guys won't fit in at ISU, position-wise? JD is committed, HB is desired in the most passionate recruiting way imaginable . . . I don't recall, does MP have an ISU offer at this point? We always want great point guards, don't we?

Can we imagine a more dynamic trio coming to Ames in 2010 than these three amigos?

Ok, Ok, Ok. We fans have to get these three guys together, get them to make a pact between themselves to take ISU mbb to unprecedented heights (the Final Four is the goal). Here's how we do it: First, we bzzz bzzz bzzzzz. . . .

How about it, you guys in?

Re: Is our 2010 Dream Class JD, HB, and MP?

Ohhhh, crap! Marcus is not class of 2010? Rats!!!

Ok. Ok. Ok. Change in plan. If we only have three scholarships for 2010, who do we want in addition to JD and HB? A guard?

This pact thing can still work (but, I really loved the idea of three Iowans getting together to do it. Oh, well. . . .)

Greg said during the season that of the 13 scholarships, he wants to divide them this way: 8 guards, 5 front line players. So, in 2010, we've got JD, we fervently hope to get HB, two front line players (if we consider HB a SF rather than a SG). Guessing we'll want a guard, then, don't you think?

For 2010, replace Paige with Kyle Kelm, or, if you want to keep it all within the state, Chanse Creekmur.

Barnes, Dykstra, and Kelm would be HUGE!

Then Paige can come in as a freshman and start with these three juniors and go to the Final Four.

I disagree. Dykstra is gonna be an amazing player for us. He's moving into the Top 50 nationally already being committed and from a small town in Iowa.....that says something about his talent.

Ooo, hope Jordan Dykstra doesn't read this post.

To me, it matters. And it matters greatly that JD is committed to the Cyclone program. Either cyismydog or kg-cyclone said it the other day: together, JD and HB would be a "wicked duo." HB ain't gonna get it done by himself. We need to put the best five players on the floor that we can. Strength in numbers. JD is a key to building that strength, isn't he?

Isn't Barry Stevens' kid in the class of 2010?

Considering Greg's preferred 8-5 ratio (guards-forwards), I wonder if we'll be able to go with three forwards in 2010?

Maybe Greg would be willing to skew that ratio under certain circumstances . . . unless in 2010 it's already out of balance favoring forwards and he feels compelled to go after a guard.

In talking about the 8-5 ratio, Greg said that it works for him because there's always a fight for PT. Since Greg's offense is essentially a three guard offense (he has said the 2 and 3 positions are the same in his scheme, just on different sides of the floor), the ratio works out correctly.

Three guards on the floor is 60 percent of the five players. Eight guards on a roster of 13 scholarships is 61 percent.

It'll be interesting to see where we're at heading into 2010.

i didnt say anything bad about dykstra, and yes he will be a good player i think having seen him play a few times, but harrison is a top 15 player, and he can really change the face of ISU basketball. Dykstra will be really good, just not HB good
