Harrison Barnes write-up from NBAP camp

Harrison Barnes- Barnes certainly looks more like a 2009 prospect than a 2010 prospect here at the camp. He has a maturity to his game that is quite impressive as he never forces the action but simply makes plays.
    From Jerry Meyer.
Harrison Barnes- Along with Selby, Barnes was a pivotal player in his teams run to the camp championship. Now at 6-foot-7, 190-pounds, Barnes has everything you would want in a small forward. He is a multi-positional defender, a strong rebounder, a heady and unselfish passer and a capable scorer from both behind the arc and inside the arc. Barnes is certainly five-star material.
    From Van Coleman:
Harrison Barnes 6-foot-7 WF (2010) Ames (Ia.) This young wing has really come as far as anyone in last year. He knocked down the three, can finish in paint and is an excellent rebounder. He is making adjustment in Charlottesville very well.

Why do we have to talk about him? I just will get even more upset when he signs with Kansas.

Because it'll make me even more happy when he signs with ISU.

Re: Harrison Barnes write-up from NBAP camp

I hope we are persuing a lot more recruits in '10 because I think we have less than a 50% shot at him. For as good as he sounds, he might only stay in school for one or two years. He will do what every other top prospect does and go where he has a chance to win a championship early.

I think he knows how much fans would appreciate him here, but who doesn't want to say they played ball for KU, UNC, Duke....

If he does play just one year, think of who we will have developed on the team.

    Seniors:
    Brackins
    Garrett
    Staiger
    Boozer
    Christopherson

    Juniors:
    Buckley
    Mann
    Eik
    Pomlee
    Hamilton

Should be a very solid group his freshman year

Re: Harrison Barnes write-up from NBAP camp

I'm happy for the kid. It is neat when we have a kid in the state of Iowa who is one of the best basketball players in the US for his grade. I'm not sure we have ever had a kid this highly touted.

I did see him play a few times last year and he was good but not out of this world. It could have to do with Ames High and their style of play, but I sure would like to see what he is doing at these camps.

I'd love to see him a Cyclone, but will root him on no matter where he ends up.

Just an FYI, he is not in the top 25 in scoring at the Camp.

To get that kind of review without leading the camp in scoring is saying alot about his all around game.

Looks like a chance to win a title to me...but Christoperson, with his redshirt, will be a junior that year. And I won't count on CB still being around.

However, if Harrison commits, he will likely have a very talented freshman class surrounding him.
