3 head coaches in 6 months

And all three from the biggest sports at our school.

Has this ever happened before, anywhere in the country?

Football, Basketball and Wrestling? I expect the wrestling and basketball programs to have the biggest positive push from the hires, while FB takes 3 years.

    Has this ever happened before????

JP is definitely putting his stamp on this program in a hurry!

It would probably have to be a midwest school that did it considering wrestling is not a big sport every where else and an A.D would not fire a wrestling coach normally. Mainly he would consentrate on Basketball and football. Then once that is taken care of he could work the wrestling thing the next year. My opinion.

okay.... but how about the biggest three sports at any school, and all getting new coaches in one year.... let alone 6 months.

I'd say Women's basketball is at least on par with wrestling... they definitly draw bigger crowds.

It's pretty obvious that Pollard doesn't tollerate losing. IIRC, he had this sort of track record at Wisky.

Didn't Walden and Johnny come in at about the same time?

I don't think it's necessarily just winning and losing, but more the overall direction of the program.

Does it really matter? JP is doing what he thinks needs to be done to make the ISU programs go. If the FB team was sitting at 5-5 or 6-4 and was playing good FB this would have never happened. The same with the MBB program. I don't think JP or anyone could generate any excitement about a Morgan coached team this year.

I would have loved for Mac to lead the FB program for 10 more years. He seems to do everything well but win games, and that is a pretty big factor in selling a program. JP has to now go out and sell "New and Improved". That is a fairly easy sell the first couple years, after that you have to show something.

sure it matters.... what happened at those schools? What can we do better? what can we avoid? ....

I learned somewhere about history and repeating and doomed?

Re: 3 head coaches in 6 months

I doubt it's ever happened before. If for no other reason that there aren't a huge number of schools with wrestling.

But keep in mind that the change in wrestling had far more to do with the prospect of losing Cael to Iowa (or somewhere else), than it did with the direction of the program - at least IMO it did.

Don't forget gymnastics. She wasn't fired and it's not a big sport, but it's one we had to replace a coach that was very successful.
