    Steinbrenner Jr. spouts off

Like father like son: ESPN - Foot injury expected to sideline Wang until at least September - MLB

"My only message is simple. The National League needs to join the 21st century," Steinbrenner said in Tampa, Fla. "They need to grow up and join the 21st century.
"Am I [mad] about it? Yes," Steinbrenner added. "I've got my pitchers running the bases, and one of them gets hurt. He's going to be out. I don't like that, and it's about time they address it. That was a rule from the 1800s."
Maybe he needs to read up on some baseball history about the DH rule: Designated hitter - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia DH rule is mostly for guys that are defensive liabilities but can usually hit. Personally I think the DH rule should be done away with. There is much more strategy to the game in the NL without it and my thoughts are if you play a position on the field you should have to bat.

    Re: Steinbrenner Jr. spouts off

Hank has just shown that he likes to spout off just as much as his dad but is nowhere near as smart. I feel sorry for the Yankees and the entire Steinbrenner legacy....

    Re: Steinbrenner Jr. spouts off

I once again quote Denis Leary, this time directed at Steinbrenner: "Life sucks, get a ******* helmet." It's not as if your $200 million+ payroll was actually competing for a playoff position this year anyway...

Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?
Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

This is the dumbest statement I have ever heard, and makes me think that this idiot has no baseball sense whatsoever.

Am I the only one who doesn't think AL baseball is real baseball? (I'm half kidding)

$200 million payroll +4th place = cranky owner. I love it!

    Re: Steinbrenner Jr. spouts off

I like Hank, he will start to understand what he's saying just like Dad did. But you can't blame the guy for being upset, that is a pretty big investment to get hurt doing something he wasn't signed up to do.

By the way I am a huge Yankees fan so I may be biased.

They did not have Chinese pitchers who hurt themselves running bases in the 1800s either.

There are also teams that have their names on their jerseys, allow their players to have facial hair and long hair too... Jeez Hank, get with it....

    Re: Steinbrenner Jr. spouts off

Maybe they should allow a pinch runner at any time for a player who gets paid more than $10 Mil a year... Then after the inning is over they can just go back out in the field.

WAIT... I have it ... 2 different teams... just like football, one for offense and one for defense.

I know. God forbid we make pitchers play both defense AND offense like all of the other players do...(in the NL at least). It's terrible.

You know, I think I'd actually prefer this over the DH.
