    Reputation?

I've been curious for awhile, what exactly does the Reputation level represent? How is it gained? How is it lost?

    Just a little confused.

People like you. They really do!

Check out "User CP" - this will list any good or bad rep people have given you, as well as any comments they may have left. It's anonymous. To give rep, you click on the little blue checkmark under someone's name and either approve/disapprove of their post. Based off of the giver's rep/level, that will either bump up/down the rep of the person you're giving rep to or will leave it the same. Green rep = good, red rep = negative.

    What does blue rep mean?

    Re: Reputation?

Blue rep was given by people who aren't yet really able to leave rep - I think it's either that they don't have any rep of their own, or low posts?

    Re: Reputation?

How is it figured out? Like how is it calculated how much you get or how much you lose?

Also. I think I got to like 40 rep points, and I already had a reputation beyond repute. I think that was a little premature, especially since some people have more than a 1000.

I'm not sure how it is calculated, but I believe that the amount of rep you gain or lose is connected to the rep of the person who is giving it. For example, if i gave you rep, your own rep would jump 150+ points (I just gave out some rep and I'm actually worth 156 points) but someone with say 80 points of rep would only affect your rep by maybe 10 points. Then again I may be wrong about this.

Wow...that's a lot to be worth. With great powers comes great responsibility.

That makes sense though. Hopefully it's calculated between what people are worth and who they are repping. Larger the difference the greater the rep.

    Re: Reputation?

I'm pretty sure C.John is right, too - I don't know that it matters who you give rep to? I think it's just the givers' rep.

I laughed reading this. I agree with you. When the site first started (or when rep started), like 100 rep points was amazing but as the site has grown people are getting 1000+ in the rep category.

It's also like when you hit 100 or 200 posts...you are now a senior member...

    Re: Reputation?

I love it that people can hide behind the rep stuff like a coward when they leave someone negative rep. If you are going to leave me negative rep at least put more than a single character in your explanation so I know why you didn't like my post. I don't like giving out negative rep and when I do give any kind of rep I at least have the guts to attach a -travman23 at the end of the comment so you know who did it.

That is noble. I don't like the fact that it is anonymous either. If you don't like what I have to say than at least let me defend it to you.
