    2007 Schedule senario..Ouch!

Here is next years schedule. My thoughts on win-loss. What do others think?
    Kent State Ames Win
    No.Iowa Ames Win
    Iowa Ames Loss(I hope not)
    Toledo There Win
    Nebraska There Loss
    Tex Tech There Loss
    Texas Ames Loss
    Oklahoma Ames Loss
    Mizzu There Loss
    K State Ames ?
    Colorado Ames ?
    Kansas There ?
Going into the K State Game the Cyclones are 3-6 overall and 0-5 in the Big 12. We would have to sweep the final three to get bowl elligible, or upset someone along the way. And Toledo there wont be an easy win. Tough schedule for anyone. The dump Mac calls would be fierce by the K State game.
    Am I all wet here?

Looks like pretty solid predictions. It's always tough when we play the "good" slate of the Big XII South. I really doubt Toledo will be too tough there though. The way K-State has improved so rapidly this season, that could be a difficult game at home. Who knows how fast Colorado will catch on next season? That could be a tough one at home. And KU always gives us a tough time in Lawrence... Could be a long season.

I dont see Iowa being a loss next year. They lose Drew Tate.

Sure they lose Tate, but they get a much better pure passer in Jake Christensen, along with a much more seasoned receiving core. Chalk that up in the loss category as well.

We will lose to Iowa, and UNI returns a LOT of their starters. Toledo will be tough as well.

    Going to be tough.

    Re: 2007 Schedule senario..Ouch!

I believe in 2008 we revert back to the easier schedule of:
    Nebraska
    Baylor
    Mizzou
    Ok State
    T A and M
    KS
    CO
    KState
Whoever is coach then, has a decent chance to look good. Next year looks ugly, but there is hope ahead. Don't we play in two year intervals with the schedule?

    Two year intervals, yes.

That's why a change needed to be made this year. Next year is going to be brutal no matter who was coach. Let a new coach come in and get players adjusted and then the schedule gets easier his second and third years.

Actually I see us beating Iowa. They are just not a good team this year, and that's WITH Tate. Then a likely let-down at Toledo. But that's just me...

Hard to say about Iowa. As much as I am a Mac hater, the one thing he did really well was getting ready to play Iowa. Unless Loney or Rhodes is the next coach, they probably won't bring the same enthusiasm to that game.

    Re: 2007 Schedule senario..Ouch!

You might be right on Iowa, but they do have their touted class of recruits from last year coming.(Wasnt that class or recruits 12 in the nation or something?) I agree on a good time for a new coach to come in. Great analysis. For McCarney, next year could be a carbon copy of this year, or worse. A loss to northern iowa or toledo would be a disaster and the wheels could fall off. No matter what, next year is brutal.

We'll win a conference game or 2 at minimum next year I think. With a new coach, it's really hard to go 0-for in conference play. See: Colorado.

    Re: 2007 Schedule senario..Ouch!

Yeah, I think the new coach will be able to utillize the talent we have. Don't forget how much talent we will still have in Blythe, Meyer, Moses, and on the defensive side of the ball we'll have just about everybody. I don't expect us to challenge for the North Title, but we'll win some games, especially with some good offensive and defensive scheming (which I hope we'll have).
