Reasons to Show Up in Force for MU Game

Austin Flynn - Tough kid who stuck with ISU when many kids in his situation give up. Gave his all for ISU and will be fondly remembered for his play and his attitude.

Brett Curvey - Touchdown Curvey, Big Play Curvey. This year was a tougher year for him with the double teams, but he is a player. I will be surprised if he doesn't catch on in the NFL.

Deandre Jackson - Great kid who will be honored as a Senior and had a distinguished career. The soft defense ISU played this year really hid his talents. Last two years when we played more press coverage he really showed he could dominate. He will be a starting corner in the NFL someday.

While our OLine has not lived up to billing, four seniors will be graduating as starters. Stephenson brought an intensity to our line last year that was really missed when he was injured. Memory serves me right Brant started every game of his college career. The Fisher twins are to outstanding gentleman and family men who didn't have the careers we hoped for, but chose ISU over some very fine offers including Wisconsin. Seth Zehr another fine Fort Dodge product who has been willing to be Mr. Versatility and play wherever he was needed.

Jon Davis, remember his first two years, all the talent but he couldn't help but drop the big catch. He stuck with it, put in the time and now when you see the ball thrown to him you expect him to catch it every time. He busted his tail to work his way back from a torn achilles and caught the first pass of ISU's season.

Walter Nickel, another guy who rumor has it is a great kid. Helped bring back the tight end position at ISU. Not flashy, but runs good routes and makes the tough catch.

Shawn Moorehead, former walkon from Mason City if memory serves me right who worked his way into the mix and eventually into a starting job. Spent a lot of time developing his body to be able to contribute at a high level. Came in undersized and developed himself into a solid B12 player.

There are more....these are some of the guys I most identified with. I am proud to have them as alumni of ISU and letter winners of our football team. The last game is for them. I will be there for them and what they have done on and off the field for Iowa State.

    Won't you join me?

Also Ryan Baum a kid who no one expected to ever play in DI stuck it out four years to be a key person in special teams for Iowa State....maybe there have been some muffed punts lately but has always been a reliable bullet man on punts and kid the put his heart out day after day..good luck to all seniors

We can also impress some possible coaching replacements if they are in attendence at the game.

Good post. Y would coaching replacements be at the game? Wouldnt they be coaching their own teams? Im guessing we are going to get someone that currently is a coach, therefore they won't be attending that game

    You can tape it.

No one mentioned Skaldany either - it probably is his last game as a Cyclone also.

I've never been a fan of the defense we run (DB's 8-10 yards off the line) but John Skladany is a great guy!

Re: Reasons to Show Up in Force for MU Game

I'm really hoping to go. This is a very important game for me, as I need to see Flynn's last game. Been a huge fan of his since that rainy spring game back in April 2003, and got real ****** off when he got benched for Meyer in 2004, though was quite happy with the double QB system. He was on a roll against Iowa, but then got knocked out. Too bad he played so poorly against Texas A&M his favorite team as a childhood (Can you imagine Flynn and Tate playing for the Aggies? It almost happened).

I was real happy with the switch to receiver in 2005, as I got to see him on the field. Though I'm still confused about him switching to number 13....

Maybe he can finally get a touchdown within the next two games. Here's hoping.

Bah, Sorry for the ramble guys.
