    Flood Updates - June 13

Does anyone know how close water is to going over SE 14th, what about SW 63rd? I work at CDS on Bell Ave and i'm looking for ways to get home tonight, there was water in the far north parking lots when I pulled into work this morning.

With the water bubbling over SW 7th, i'm surprised that area hasn't been shut down, it was pretty deep this morning.

    Thanks.

I thought they said on the news this morning that Bell was shutting down.

Yeah I found out the hard way. There was a cop at Fleur and Bell stopping every car that was turning onto Bell.

My office building is on SW7th St. So are saying that street is flooding now? I was told today it would be at least 6 weeks before I get to go back to that office.

The area on Euclid where the new Polk County offices are almost done is a complete lake right now. The road is now closed at the intersection of MLK and Euclid which is where I head North to work so had to cut across the Hy-Vee parking lot but I have a feeling that even the intersection to that may be closed by this afternoon because water is already on the road there.

I work a lot with the DNR and one of their offices is on SW 7th. They have moved all of their stuff and are working out of the Wallace Building indefinitely.

At the intersection of MLK and SW 7th, there has been water coming up from I think a manhole cover since at least yesterday morning and this morning, it was a quite a bit deeper than yesterday.

It seems like the whole state may be paralyzed for the weekend.

It is starting to be difficult to get anywhere, either in the DM area, out get out on the interstate.

Garn, I work at the Wells Fargo on Bell right by you. I was thinking the same thing about 7th flooding from the manholes....if that closes, the SW 9th bridge through downtown would be the way to go.

If at all possible, i'd just avoid downtown though.

It looks as if the Des Moines river is finally starting to trend downward, thank goodness. It's only gone up since Tuesday evening. I just hope things get to dry out before more rain next week, or possibly Sunday.

I hope what you're saying is true, but looking at the USGS site, it looks like the river right by Saylorville is still climbing in terms of discharge and height.

For the people that don't work downtown, like myself, here's a view of the bridges.
Des Moines Weather, Central Iowa Weather Forecast, Weather Radar & Maps

From what I can remember, the Des Moines River did not do that in '93. I'm pretty sure you could still see some of the arches. But you cannot in the linked pic.
